On the 12th, singer Jo Jae-ju appeared on the "Tuesday Guest Room" segment of KBS1's "Morning Yard," sharing various stories and reflecting on his musical career.
On that day, Jo Jae-ju, who showcased a live performance of "Do You Not Know," introduced himself by saying, "I have finally achieved my life goal. Visual singer Jo Jae-ju." Jo Jae-ju expressed his feelings, stating, "It's amazing and feels good to be on a program that I've dreamed of since I was young and have only heard about," and Lee Kwang-ki noted, "He has a moist voice, and I think many fans will emerge across the country from today."
Jo Jae-ju showed pride, saying, "I think my face is more charming." He explained, "I have never hidden myself. It became an opportunity as I turned 41. I have consistently run a business and am still operating it. I run a cafe and a bar, and while doing that naturally, I ended up meeting the composer of 'Do You Not Know' as many celebrities came to visit." He added, "I often perform at the bar and sang a Davichi song to the composer out of respect. Originally, I was going to participate in 'Singer Gain.' After releasing this album, I traveled abroad and heard reactions that were unusual while I was away. I didn't have a concrete plan to become a singer."
Jo Jae-ju continued, "I opened a jazz bar because I wanted to sing. I was happy just to sing and wanted to give joy. I was preparing to participate in 'Singer Gain,' and it became a huge hit. I received a lot of contact from abroad. Even friends who didn't believe I debuted were shocked when my chart rankings rose."
The first photo showcasing the changes in Jo Jae-ju's colorful life displayed his unique fashion sense. Jo Jae-ju, who majored in fashion design, shared, "I liked dressing up since I was young and had a strong interest in fashion, so I wanted to be a show director. I was a typical arts and physical education person. After serving in the military, I applied to 'Superstar K' and made it to the finals, but I didn't achieve a good result, so I thought it wasn't my path and lived through my twenties."
Jo Jae-ju, who revealed a photo of the ongoing interior work, explained, "Around the age of 29, I wanted to do show directing globally and prepared to study abroad in the U.S., but I experienced family fraud and reflected on myself, thinking I needed to help my parents, which made me give up. I minored in interior design in college and chose interior design because I wanted to do things I love."
In the third photo, a new phase of Jo Jae-ju's life unfolded. Sharing a photo of himself as a DJ, he said, "This is a cafe and bar in Hannam-dong. Even after debuting, people referred to me as 'Bar Owner Jo Jae-ju.' I even cook and serve drinks, so it's natural. I went to Yangyang to help with a friend's construction and saw a cute truck, so I asked if I could have fun with it, and it felt like I found my calling. There was a reaction that it would be good to do it in Seoul, so I opened it." He added, "I wanted to sing so much that I sang. This is a space created for that. I started in the semi-basement of Itaewon, but I suffered water damage. The landlord refunded me the money, so I moved to Hannam-dong and started again."
Jo Jae-ju also pointed to his fateful meeting with his wife as a turning point in his life. He said, "After moving to Hannam-dong, I met my wife as a customer at the bar. On the day of the performance, I wore a trench coat, and there were only beautiful women in the bar. Feeling good, I had a drink and moved naturally forward, but as the coat loosened and my belly appeared, my wife lifted her hand. I think that was high-level flirting. I didn't confess first; my wife approached me first." He added, "It wasn't that the store opened during COVID-19 and succeeded, but when I was contemplating whether to move, my wife supported me to try for just one more year, and within a few days, a miraculous moment arrived."
Jo Jae-ju's father, who made a surprise appearance on "Morning Yard," expressed his hope that his son would give him a grandchild. In response, Jo Jae-ju said, "I believe there is no greater filial duty than that, and my wife and I are thinking about having a second child, so we are working hard." Jo Jae-ju concluded his first appearance on "Morning Yard" alongside his father.
