The "smoking gun" deals with the Cheonan serial murder case.
On Nov. 19, 2005, an urgent report came into the police station stating that a husband had been kidnapped. It was said that he lost contact after having dinner with a colleague the previous night. The next day, a taxi driver delivered a letter from the husband stating, "I have been kidnapped and my life is in danger," and requested, "Please prepare 50 million won in cash." What could have possibly happened to the husband?
The wife carefully went to the location the husband had indicated with the investigating detective. However, the kidnapper kept changing the meeting place, creating a tense game of hide and seek. Nevertheless, the detective discovered a crucial clue that could identify the kidnapper at one of the restaurants. After a persistent pursuit, they finally succeeded in apprehending the suspect, but unexpectedly, new clues to another crime began to emerge.
Lee Ji-hye noted, "Thinking about how terrified the wife must have been upon receiving contact from the kidnapper, it is suffocating," and expressed her disbelief stating, "I cannot understand how someone could commit such a horrific act without any sense of guilt." Additionally, Ahn Hyun-mo lamented, "The series of events, which keep unfolding like sweet potato vines, is astonishing," and emphasized, "If they hadn't been able to apprehend the suspect, there would have been many more victims."
Meanwhile, in this broadcast, Kim Tae-yong, a sergeant from the Cheonan Mokcheonbukmyeon police station, who engaged in an intense psychological battle with the perpetrator and uncovered additional crimes, grants a vivid account of the urgent investigation during the kidnapping case. Additionally, Professor Oh Yun-sung from Soonchunhyang University deeply analyzes the psychology of the serial murderer.
