In "Our Golden Days," Kim Jung-young delivered warmth through her motherly love.
The new weekend drama that aired its first episode last week on KBS 2TV, "Our Golden Days," tells a story of intergenerational empathy and family melodrama, emphasizing that everyone has their own golden days, whether in the present, past, or future. Kim Jung-young portrayed Jung Soon-hee, the mother of Ji Eun-oh (played by Jung In-sun), bringing warmth to the role.
"Our Golden Days" episodes 1 and 2 depicted Soon-hee's daily life as she operates a small store with the help of her daughter Eun-oh and son Ji Gang-oh (played by Yang Hyuk).
Gang-oh called Eun-oh to tell her to come quickly to help, even though it was Saturday. Upon hearing that Eun-oh couldn't come because she was busy, he called her foolish for worrying about something that wouldn't earn them money and hung up. Soon-hee scolded her sister for such language.
After finishing work with Eun-oh, who stopped by the store, Soon-hee held Eun-oh's hand and they returned home, sharing warmth. Once home, while doing more work, Soon-hee noticed Eun-oh asleep in the early morning and, wishing to put her down comfortably, picked her up but stumbled. Soon-hee's bright smile sparked laughter in those who witnessed it as she tried to get Eun-oh to sleep in the room.
Kim Jung-young, known for her solid acting skills, blended naturally into her first challenge in a KBS weekend drama, providing laughter and emotional depth. With the help of her daughter and son to manage the store, she depicted the life of a hardworking small citizen and the motherly love that led her to recklessly wake her daughter, who was sleeping uncomfortably, showcasing her delicate acting skills and proving her talent in embodying the character.
As such, interest grows in the stories Kim Jung-young will reveal in the future. KBS 2TV weekend drama "Our Golden Days" airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m.
