The 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) is set to showcase top overseas performance teams.
From Aug. 29 (Fri) to Sept. 7 (Sun), the largest comedy festival in Asia, the 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) will be held across Busan for ten days. For the first time, the opening performance will move from outdoors to indoors, providing a more comfortable and immersive performance environment.
As anticipation for the upgraded opening performance rises, overseas performance teams that will enhance the diverse lineup have also completed their preparations. The 13th BICF will feature theater performances led by teams that have won the Sea of Laughter Award.
First, Bunk Puppet, a master of shadow puppetry that the whole family can enjoy, will present a new work titled "Bunktopia" at the BICF. They will showcase a fantasy world that stimulates the imagination with diverse puppets, such as popcorn parachutes and dancing snails, promising audiences an unforgettable gift.
Meanwhile, the music comedy "Wok 'n' Woll," which crosses classical and rock, is also in preparation. This concert filled with laughter is performed by an outstanding French classical duo that combines excellent playing skills with comedy, creating incredible music as various genres intertwine. The unpredictable flow is expected to captivate the eyes and ears of the audience.
The Ultimate Japanese Comedy Show, featuring Japan's top comedians, is also set to deliver laughter that transcends borders. This year, three comedians who have gained popularity beyond Japan by reaching the finals and semifinals of "Britain's Got Talent" will showcase stages of different hues. The unique lineup of overseas performance teams that can only be found at the BICF heightens the anticipation for the event.
Furthermore, the BICF will present the "MICF Roadshow in Busan," an English stand-up comedy show, for the second consecutive year in collaboration with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF), the largest comedy festival in the world. This roadshow, arranged once again for Busan citizens who rarely get a chance to experience English stand-up comedy, garnered an overwhelmingly positive response and ticket sales during its inaugural run last year, raising further expectations for its impact.
