Huh Kyung-hwan, who had a complex about being short, was seen contemplating surgery to increase his height.
In the episode aired on the 10th, Huh Kyung-hwan was shown expressing his 'short height' complex and considering limb lengthening surgery while visiting the hospital with Kim Jun-ho.
That day, while visiting the hospital with Kim Jun-ho, Huh Kyung-hwan said, 'I came here seriously thinking this might be my last chance to grow in my life. So, I'm going to get a consultation today and if it's okay, I'll make an appointment right away,' drawing attention to the surgery to increase his height.
He continued, 'I've already had a lot of trouble because of my height, and I really think this is my last opportunity. It could be that my inability to get married is due to being 168cm tall. I have to make one last effort.' He lamented, 'I recently had a hard time with blind dates because of my height. Honestly, it's not just that they are tall, but that I'm just too short. I felt diminished.'
Listening seriously beside him, Kim Jun-ho said, 'If I observe you today and if you undergo the surgery and it goes well, I might have to consider it too. I've lived at 169cm until I was 50, but I want to try living at 175cm.'
Then, a consultation proceeded. Earlier, both had undergone various tests. The actual height revealed through X-rays was disclosed. Huh Kyung-hwan measured 168.2cm, with his lower body proportion being somewhat shorter than the Korean average. Upon hearing this, Huh Kyung-hwan said, 'I'm really shocked right now,' and Kim Jun-ho added, 'That means you have short legs,' eliciting laughter.
The doctor explained about the surgery to increase height, saying, 'Usually, we've tried extending it by 5 to 7cm, with a maximum of 13.5cm.' Huh Kyung-hwan revealed that if he were to increase his height, he would like to aim for a height of around 177cm to 180cm.
In response, the doctor said, 'You can do 8cm. You will reach 177cm. It's not good to do 8cm all from one side, like from the calf or thigh. If you do it in stages, the burden is less. When you are 177cm, you will look over 180cm from the outside. And for someone like you, the arm length is fine. Doing 8 to 10cm won't cause a proportional problem.'
Kim Jun-ho claimed to be 1cm taller than Huh Kyung-hwan, but in reality, his height was only 168.5cm, which was just 0.3cm different from Huh Kyung-hwan. The doctor even pointed out, 'The leg proportional height is shorter than that of Huh Kyung-hwan,' to which Kim Jun-ho couldn't hide his surprise, saying, 'I'm taller, but my legs are shorter?'
Meanwhile, while Huh Kyung-hwan expressed interest in the surgery to increase height, the doctor warned of the risks involved, drawing attention. The correct name for the surgery to increase height is limb lengthening surgery, and it is reported that the minimum expense is around 40 million won.
The doctor stated that this is a surgery that breaks bones, explaining, 'The broken bone is gradually pulled apart to lengthen it. The bone fixation screws will be removed after two years,' adding, 'Muscle recovery is key, but for intense exercises like soccer, basketball, and running, recovery may not be as they currently are.'
He emphasized, 'This is not a light surgery. There can be risks during the process, and just because the doctor performs well doesn't guarantee good results. The patient must also work hard on rehabilitation. Whether for better or worse, it is a surgery that changes fate.'
He then warned, 'If this surgery fails, there could be complications or disabilities, and your life could be ruined. Please think very carefully and don't take it lightly.'
Realizing the risks of the surgery, Huh Kyung-hwan remarked, 'I thought I was stressed to some degree, but there must be people who are really struggling, so I don't think it should be taken lightly.'
