'The Love Fool of Joseon' Kim Tae-won's U.S. visa issuance has been denied again.
In the TV Chosun entertainment show 'The Love Fool of Joseon', Kim Tae-won's preparations for a visa interview to attend his daughter's wedding in the U.S. were revealed.
Kim Tae-won made another attempt to obtain a U.S. visa, practicing hard for the interview and finding the appointment location.
Typically, the interview wraps up in 5 to 10 minutes, but Kim Tae-won had not come out even after 1 hour and 30 minutes. Eventually, Kim Tae-won revealed, "I heard from my lawyer that the marijuana incident from 40 years ago is 'not an issue.' The lawyer said this, but the consulate officer, who is a young guy, started off as if we were beginning again with that matter. It was a rejection," and added, "The consulate officer said that it takes 10 to 12 months to finish the review. None of the practice questions I prepared for the interview came up," expressing a look of disappointment.
He said they requested a criminal record check from Korea and a police record check from Korea. Kim Tae-won shared, "They were curious about this. They asked if there were any criminal records between 40 years ago and now. When I said no, they insisted they would need to see all my criminal records as well," and continued, "There was that incident 40 years ago, but the fact that I haven't done anything since then is hard for them to believe. From their perspective, they don't know me, so that makes sense. Other than that, there's nothing empty; I just feel sorry for my daughter."
Kim Tae-won said, "I think I need to rest. If the stress gets too high, I feel like I need to shake it off. If I get sick, it will be a big problem," before leaving the spot.
Despite a heartfelt effort for six long months, the door to a U.S. visa remains closed, and fellow entertainers remarked, "It's shocking. You must be very upset."
