The new weekend mini-series 'Confidence Man KR' (scripted by Hong Seung-hyun and Kim Da-hye, directed by Nam Ki-hoon, produced by TMI Group), which will premiere on Saturday, Sept. 6, is a 'caper comedy' about three con artists with versatile abilities seeking revenge against the villains of this era. In particular, 'Confidence Man KR' draws major attention with its strong production team, including director Nam Ki-hoon, who showcased 'the aesthetics of direction' in productions like 'Casino,' 'Kiss Sixth Sense,' 'Oh My Baby,' and 'Voice 3,' and writer Hong Seung-hyun, who boasts a reputation as a 'storytelling genius' in 'Criminal Minds' and 'Cheoyong 1, 2,' along with writer Kim Da-hye, known for her 'fresh sensibility and solid writing skills.'
In relation to this, on the 11th (today), 'Confidence Man KR' grabbed attention by releasing the script reading scene, which was already a con from the casting of this all-star lineup of trusted actors. Main actors including Park Min-young, Park Hee-soon, Joo Jong-hyuk, and Jung Woong-in showcased their synced performances from their first meeting, raising the energy of the scene.
First, Park Min-young captured attention by expressing her determination to transform from the 'queen of romantic comedies' to the 'queen of capers' through 'Confidence Man KR.' With a bold remark, 'I will dedicate myself wholeheartedly,' Park Min-young immediately embodied the character of the con artist leader Yoon Yi-rang, who possesses a brilliant IQ of 165 and is in the top 1%. She showcased the perfect expression, tension, and tone of dialogue, shining as the lively con artist leader Yoon Yi-rang.
Park Hee-soon, with a stylish greeting of 'I will work hard,' left a strong impression as he transformed into the chic gentleman James. With a trustworthy tone, Park Hee-soon depicted James' seasoned nature as the team's core, displaying James' charm, which ranged from casually engaging with team members to subtle humor and charisma.
Joo Jong-hyuk conveyed his enthusiasm by saying, 'I will do my best and work hard,' immersing himself in the character to exude warmth. As the youngest member of the 'Confidence Man team' and portraying the innocent character Myung Gu-ho, Joo Jong-hyuk delivered a realistic performance with sharp diction, delicately expressing the character's emotions.
Meanwhile, Jung Woong-in, playing the villain's representative Jeon Tae-soo, who is set to dominate the first and second episodes, drew laughter by bursting forth with ambitious remarks, 'I will wickedly do my best.' As he began reading the script, Jung Woong-in escalated the tension with a ferocious performance, raising anticipation for the performances of various villain actors he will encounter in each episode.
