It has been 21 years since the late singer Seo Jae-ho, a member of the group Wanted, passed away.
Seo Jae-ho died in a car accident on the highway while heading to Seoul late at night after finishing a performance in Busan on Aug. 11, 2004. He was 22 years old.
Born in 1981, Seo Jae-ho debuted in 2002 with the group Seven Days (7Dayz). Seven Days was a five-member ballad group that included not only Seo Jae-ho but also Lee Jung (Lee Jeong-hee), Ha Dong-kyun, and Choi Young-jun (Y.J), although Jeon Sang-hwan served as an unseen member and producer, effectively performing as a four-member group on stage.
After Seven Days disbanded, Seo Jae-ho re-debuted in 2004 with another group, Wanted, alongside Kim Jae-seok, Ha Dong-kyun, and Jeon Sang-hwan. However, just two months after debut, he tragically passed away in an unexpected traffic accident.
The vehicle driven by the manager reportedly collided with a 5-ton truck that was traveling in the second lane before crashing into the guardrail on the side of the road. As a result, the deceased was pronounced dead at the scene, and Wanted members Kim Jae-seok and Ha Dong-kyun, along with a coordinator, suffered serious injuries. The severely damaged vehicle added to the shock. Police speculate that the accident was caused by the manager falling asleep or speeding.
The funeral was attended by members of Wanted as well as Lee Jung, who had performed with him in Seven Days. Additionally, the late singer Wheesung and the artist Spider, who were also under the same label, attended to mourn the deceased.
Afterward, Wanted released a new album three years later. Lee Jung filled in for the late member, adding meaning to the group. In relation to this, Wanted stated, "We wanted to show that we never forget Jae-ho and always hold him in our hearts."
