Actress Su-hyun will close the doors of the Busan International Film Festival.
On the 11th, the organizing committee of the 30th Busan International Film Festival announced that actress Su-hyun has been selected as the host for the closing ceremony.
This closing ceremony is set to be a significant stage for announcing to the world the festival's first leap as a competitive film festival, as it will feature the presentation of the newly established "Busan Awards" for the institutional sector. This year's Busan International Film Festival will have actor Lee Byung-hun as the solo host for the opening ceremony, and actress Su-hyun as the solo host for the closing ceremony, decorating the beginning and end of the festival with two actors representing Korea and abroad.
With her overwhelming presence, atmosphere, and deep acting, actress Su-hyun, who has captivated audiences around the world, will serve as the sole host for the closing ceremony, wrapping up the intense echoes of the ten-day film festival. Given her unique acting career built across domestic and international stages, as well as her excellent language skills, she is expected to act as a consolidation between the film and the audience on stage.
Since beginning her acting career in 2006, Su-hyun made her Hollywood debut as the first Korean actress to appear in the Marvel film "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015), early establishing her name on the global stage. She subsequently made her mark with significant roles in notable works such as "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" (2018), a spin-off of the "Harry Potter" series, "The Dark Tower" (2017), and "Equals" (2015).
Recently, she has excelled in the drama "Not a Hero" (2024) and the Netflix series "Gyeongsung Creature" (2024), and has proven her deepened acting skills by winning the Best Supporting Actress award in the film category at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards for "An Ordinary Family" (2024).
The 30th Busan International Film Festival, led by actress Su-hyun with her global sensibility and presence, will take place from Wednesday, September 17, to Friday, September 26, at the Busan Cinema Center.
