Comedian Kim Byeong-man recently issued a statement regarding the adoption of his daughter but opened up after reports indicated that the reality differed from the actual ruling.
On the 11th, a representative from Kim Byeong-man's agency, Sky Turtle, stated to OSEN, "We sincerely regret the concern caused by the negative article and feel deeply apologetic about it."
Kim Byeong-man's side stated, "Kim Byeong-man did not have a wedding with Seok Mo in 2010, and he began his married life by registering the marriage, adopting a child who was 9 years old at that time as his own."
They further explained, "Afterward, starting in 2012, they began living separately, and during the period of separation, a dispute arose regarding Kim Byeong-man's grants and income, leading to the initiation of divorce proceedings in July 2019. During the divorce proceedings in 2020, the first adoption revocation lawsuit was initiated, and a second adoption revocation lawsuit followed in 2022."
Meanwhile, Kim Byeong-man's side mentioned, "In November 2024, through the third revocation lawsuit, the Seoul Family Court ruled on August 8, 2025, regarding the well-being and mutual interests of the child who has now surpassed 25 years of age, leading to the adoption revocation being granted."
Additionally, Kim Byeong-man's side added, "Kim Byeong-man hopes that this ruling will prevent the child adopted due to the marriage registration with Seok Mo from being hurt any longer."
Earlier, on the 8th, Kim Byeong-man's side stated that after the revocation lawsuit regarding his ex-wife's daughter, A, was concluded, "it was noted that the adoption was revoked due to recognized immoral acts stemming from false accusations." However, the ruling did not include this phrase, leading to controversy.
In response, Kim Byeong-man's side commented, "The recent expression 'recognizing immoral acts due to false accusations' was interpreted only as acknowledging that there were various factors recognized alongside the revocation ruling and that there was damage from the false accusations. This discrepancy originates from the interpretation of the ruling, and we regret any confusion caused by this interpretation."
Meanwhile, Kim Byeong-man is set to hold a wedding with his younger fiancée on September 20 at a location in Seoul.
