Actress Ku Hye-sun has come under fire for remarks seemingly directed at her ex-husband Ahn Jae-hyun, amid a 'double standards' controversy, and has expressed regret over the media's reporting attitude.
Ku Hye-sun stated on the 9th through her social media, "This statement pertains to circumstances that have arisen after an agreement with my former spouse. I regret the reporting that obscures the discussion by linking it to conflicts that occurred prior to the agreement." This is an additional statement that follows a lengthy criticism she posted the day before.
Earlier, Ku Hye-sun claimed, "Repeatedly putting the phrase 'five years of divorce' in the headlines is not proper journalistic ethics," adding, "If an agreement was reached without questioning the truth, it is an implicit promise even if it does not constitute a sincere reconciliation between the parties, and it is a matter of human duty."
She raised concerns regarding an indirect mention of her ex-husband Ahn Jae-hyun, stating, "Continuous and indirect remarks that allow for inference about parties in the same industry, coupled with remarks that flirt between seriousness and jest, are cowardly. Questions or sympathy that induce this are also secondary harm and a major wound."
She added, "I am just not someone who openly displays emotions, but that does not mean I am emotionless. No one has the right to mock me, the party involved, simply because it brings joy to the public," expressing her displeasure.
Ku Hye-sun and Ahn Jae-hyun met through the KBS2 drama 'Blood' in 2015, married in 2016, but publicly revealed their discord following Ku Hye-sun's exposure in 2019, leading to a consensual divorce in 2020. Although each has continued their activities since the divorce, the label of 'divorce' still clings to them in articles.
Ku Hye-sun's recent post appears to stem from her discomfort with her ex-husband's name being mentioned alongside her current news. However, some viewers criticize her for pointing out Ahn Jae-hyun's remarks in entertainment shows, arguing that since she previously discussed divorce and new love in her own entertainment shows, it is "double standards" to hold him accountable while she does not.
Though Ku Hye-sun emphasized once more that "This statement pertains to circumstances after the agreement," the 'double standards' controversy continues.
