Representative Lee Soon-sil helped employee Min-hee with her infertility treatment.
The episode aired on KBS 2TV on 10th, showing Lee Soon-sil accompanying employee Min-hee for a gynecological check-up.
On this day, Min-hee, after five years of marriage, went to see a gynecologist because she had not become pregnant. Lee Soon-sil shared, "In North Korea, if you get married and can't have a child, you get expelled. Whether it's the man or the woman who can't have children, it's always the woman's fault, even without any examination."
Lee Jung-min expressed surprise, saying, "This is completely a feudal mindset," and Lee Soon-sil remarked, "Even in this state, Min-hee is embarrassed to speak when going to the hospital."
Min-hee explained her reason for visiting the gynecologist, saying, "I got married in 2021. At the time of marriage, I thought it would happen soon. But it hasn't happened. So, I've had artificial insemination and once went through in vitro fertilization. I get a lot of injections. It feels like my stomach has a hole in it."
Lee Jung-min echoed a similar experience, saying, "In my case, I conceived my first child naturally right away, but the second one didn't happen. Now, even at the hospital, they say it's time for in vitro fertilization, and the injections are not just one. I have to do it 3-4 times a day according to the schedule. Even during a company dinner, if an alarm goes off, I would go to the restroom to take an injection. When I counted, I found out I succeeded on the 10th try."
Min-hee mentioned that she had gained a lot of weight during the in vitro fertilization procedure. Lee Jung-min empathized, stating, "That's not fat; it's swelling. My face is like that, but my abdomen is very swollen." In a detailed discussion with the doctor, Min-hee revealed that she and her husband are currently engaging in intimate relations about 2-3 times a week.
The doctor said, "Typically, the standard for infertility is not achieving pregnancy after more than a year with intimate relations twice a week, which defines infertility." Min-hee currently fits the criteria for an infertile couple.
