These days, the hottest group 'Insamo (Society of Unpopular People)' has gathered celebrities that fit its membership criteria, bringing laughter.
On Aug. 9, the MBC entertainment program 'What Do You Do When You Stay Home?' (directed by Kim Jin-yong, Lee Ju-won, Ahn Ji-sun, Lee Do-eun, and Bang Seong-su/written by Noh Min-sun) conducted additional candidate interviews for the project 'Insamo (Society of Unpopular People)' launched by Haha. Yoo Jae-suk, Haha, Joo Woo-jae, and Lee Yi-kyung met actors Han Sang-jin, who wanted to join 'Insamo', worldwide villain actor Heo Sung-tae, and broadcaster Jung Jun-ha, whom they wanted to tease.
On that day, the Seoul metropolitan area household viewership rating for 'What Do You Do When You Stay Home?' rose to 5.6%, recording first place in its time slot. The key indicator measuring channel competitiveness and topicality, the 2049 viewership rating, was recorded at 2.6%, securing first place among all Saturday programs, including entertainment and drama. The peak minute was marked by the scene of catching the 'Insamo' big fish Jung Jun-ha, with the rating soaring to 7% at one point. (Nielsen Korea based on Seoul metropolitan area)
Han Sang-jin expressed his willingness to participate in 'Insamo', but was deemed unqualified according to Haha's standard of being 'not popular enough'. Han Sang-jin felt unfair, admitting that he couldn't accept that he wasn't as famous as the mentioned candidates Jang Hang-jun, Heo Gyeong-hwan, and Two Cut. Joo Woo-jae teased him, saying, 'Your representative work is the web entertainment 'Pigeon' right?' and it was discovered that Han Sang-jin's SNS post which featured Yoo Jae-suk as the thumbnail was found. Han Sang-jin showed his thirst for popularity, stating, 'I used Yoo Jae-suk's face because I was afraid people wouldn't come with my face.'
In the end, Han Sang-jin lamented, 'I cleared my schedule for Thursday (recording day)' while showing proof of his schedule on his phone. He struggled to prove his fame, and it was revealed that his only fan cafe has just one member, bringing him closer to 'Insamo'. The other 'Insamo' candidate, director Jang Hang-jun, engaged in intense competition while putting each other down, causing everyone to burst into laughter. Han Sang-jin, who earnestly pleaded, 'I put my life on the line here,' successfully received an invitation.
The next candidate to receive an invitation from 'Insamo' was Heo Sung-tae, the villain actor from the globally hit OTT drama 'Squid Game' Season 1. Heo Sung-tae spoke about the explosive rise and subsequent rapid decline of his SNS follower count after the success of 'Squid Game', describing his popularity as a bubble that burst. Heo Sung-tae, who suddenly gained attention, confessed, 'I suffered from panic disorder. It felt like everyone on set was watching me to see how well I act.' He also lamented, 'It's heartbreaking that since 2023, my fan cafe with 52 members hasn't found its 100th visitor.'
Yoo Jae-suk also provided a lecture for Heo Sung-tae, who had his famous line stolen by Jang Chan from the movie 'The Outlaws'. Yoo Jae-suk told Heo Sung-tae, who was lowering his voice, 'This is why you lost to Jang Chan. I understand now why the line you said first didn't become a trend,' while demonstrating raising the tone of the line 'Do you know who I am?' Heo Sung-tae, contrasting his villain image, shyly complied with everything, acting as a 'new entertainment recruit'. Interest focused on whether he would be able to join 'Insamo.'
Following the strong recommendation of Haha, Jung Jun-ha appeared as a candidate. Jung Jun-ha reported, 'Fans pooled money together to buy me gifts', 'I am preparing an incredible project', and 'A drama starring me is about to begin,' but Yoo Jae-suk and Haha teased him, saying, 'Don't lie,' inducing laughter. Feeling wronged, Jung Jun-ha became proud when his ranking was mentioned as number two in the sales of 'Infinite Challenge' figurines in front of the last-placed Haha. Jung Jun-ha remarked, 'Park Myung-soo is just being humble,' taking pride in claiming the number two spot.
After losing 10 kg, Jung Jun-ha's confidence surged. When Yoo Jae-suk and Haha's reactions were lukewarm, he flaunted his abs. Yoo Jae-suk, who started searching for abs, playfully pinched his belly fat. Jung Jun-ha, claiming he was the 'Byeon Wooseok of Gangnam Station', recounted unbelievable tales, quickly apologizing when Yoo Jae-suk and Haha warned him, 'Don't touch Wooseok.'
Jung Jun-ha, who received a free pass to 'Insamo' without needing to see his resume, expressed, 'I told you I'm popular, right? How many times do I have to say it?' while still wondering who would come to 'Insamo'. Yoo Jae-suk, who was playfully teasing Jung Jun-ha until he cried with laughter, expressed satisfaction, saying, 'You are fun when we see you sometimes. It's most fun when there's a phone consolidation.' Jung Jun-ha, whose anger was boiling, declared, 'I will truly succeed next year,' announcing his intent to succeed. While claiming he was popular, Jung Jun-ha eventually said, 'I am willing to join 'Insamo'. Just be sure to select the right kids' and exited. Viewers showed great interest in just how unpopular the people attending 'Insamo' would be.
Meanwhile, the next broadcast preview featured the members' appearances as they spent the day following AI (artificial intelligence) recommendations. The role of AI in keeping Yoo Jae-suk in check heightened expectations. MBC 'What Do You Do When You Stay Home?' airs every Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
