Comedian Jeong Joo-ri apologized for the controversy regarding false advertising of cosmetics.
Jeong noted on the 8th via SNS, "I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt regarding the 'A Cream' brand, which I made grants for recently."
He said, "Following the release of the advertisement, negative reports about the brand continued," and added, "I communicated multiple times that it means I could not participate in advertisements containing false information, such as the statement that it is 'famous in Australia,' and requested the posted advertisement to be removed. Though the request was reflected, I feel greatly sorry knowing that there are people who trusted me and purchased the product."
Jeong stated, "I will be more cautious in everything in the future," and added, "I will become a comedian who brings happy laughter."
The product in question was promoted as 'Australian cosmetics,' but the actual manufacturer is said to be located domestically. There are also claims that the assertion of being 'famous locally in Australia' is false, leading to allegations of false and exaggerated advertising.
Bada, a former member of the group S.E.S., who also made grants for the same product advertisement, posted a handwritten apology on the 5th. Bada said, "I apologize for causing confusion with content that is not factual," and noted, "I merely relayed the script provided by the production company, but I should have verified it more carefully in advance."
With the continuous apologies from celebrities regarding the 'A Cream,' voices among consumers are rising that "verification before participating in ads is essential."
