Actress Seo Hyun-rim expressed her dissatisfaction with the attitude of the insurance company regarding delays in processing claims following vehicle flood damage caused by heavy rain.
On the 9th, Seo Hyun-rim shared a captured news article on her social media, writing, "Was this the reason? Why are they insisting until the end not to provide a total loss settlement?" The news contained information that the total number of flood-damaged vehicles reported to the property insurance companies reached 3,794, with estimated damages amounting to 36.462 billion won.
Seo Hyun-rim subsequently released parts of the recorded conversations between herself and the insurance company. According to the transcripts, the insurance company stated, "There is no liability," yet the processing had been delayed for three weeks. In particular, the insurance company noted, "We plan to sell the vehicle after processing the insurance," and Seo Hyun-rim raised a question, saying, "I thought flood-damaged vehicles were usually scrapped, but I guess that's not the case."
Earlier, on the 1st, Seo Hyun-rim shared her situation after the rain damage, stating, "The reality that natural disasters can suddenly occur to any of us felt terrifying." She remarked, "Repeated currency calls resulted in more than ten days of disruption to my daily life. Despite the incomprehensible changes in conversation and attitudes, I maintained my composure and am proceeding with follow-up measures," criticizing the insurance company's inadequate response.
Meanwhile, the area of Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, where Seo Hyun-rim suffered damage, experienced severe damage on July 20 due to concentrated rainfall exceeding 70 mm per hour, resulting in 52 landslides and flooding of the Jogyeong Stream. This led to not only loss of life but also damage to dwellings and vehicles, among other personal property losses.
