S.E.S member Shoo (Yoo Soo-young) has belatedly spoken out about the controversy surrounding her revealing outfit during her time as a BJ.
On the 8th, a video titled "I'll talk about that controversial incident today (exclusive)" was uploaded on the YouTube channel "Ingan That's Shoo." Shoo mentioned, "I think I had no opportunity to speak, and I seemed to have run away," breaking her silence to clarify the situation.
Shoo explained, "At the time I was in a situation where I needed to raise money and received an offer. I wanted my channel to be a space for interacting with fans, but I picked the wrong outfit on my first broadcast." She added, "I chose the cut-out style that was trendy at the time, but it accidentally came across poorly in front of the lights and camera."
She continued, "I didn't receive any balloons; I accepted an advance payment to put out a fire. I had no choice, and I thought I just needed to make my broadcast well afterwards."
Shoo returned as a BJ after a three-year hiatus due to gambling allegations in April 2022. Through the internet broadcasting channel Flex TV, she tearfully expressed her feelings, saying, "I apologize to those who supported me," adding, "I regretted my poor judgment and foolish actions. I missed everyone a lot and was waiting for this day."
Earlier, Shoo was sentenced to six months in prison with a two-year probation in February 2019 for gambling approximately 790 million won in Korea and Macau from August 2016 to May 2018. She appeared in public for the first time after three years and two months.
She stated, "Broadcasting is the space where I can show my most honest self," adding, "I want to actively participate in campaigns to eradicate gambling. If given the opportunity, I would also like to serve as an ambassador for the Korea Center on Gambling Problems."
During the broadcast, S.E.S members Bada and Eugene were also watching, and Shoo conveyed this to her fans. However, the scene where she danced in a revealing outfit during her tearful reflection broadcast became controversial, leading to Bada giving her a piece of advice about the outfit, causing a brief rift between the two.
