Actress Jang Shin-young shared the story of how she became an actress and her honest feelings throughout the process.
On the 8th, the KBS 2TV program "Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant" featured Jang Shin-young and her mother making a dish with freshwater shrimp called "saebaeng-i," filled with childhood memories. Saebaeng-i has been an ingredient enjoyed by Jang's family since the time they operated a grape orchard.
That day, Jang Shin-young's mother recalled, "The people in the neighborhood said that Shin-young should participate in Miss Korea." When Jang's high school graduation photo and a video of her winning a prize at the 2001 national Chunhyang contest were revealed, the cast of "Fun-Staurant" expressed their admiration, saying, "With looks like that, how could she not be Chunhyang?"
However, Jang Shin-young said, "I never imagined that I would become an actress," and explained, "In my third year of middle school, I passed the entrance exam for the acting department upon my teacher's recommendation, and I started working in broadcasting after winning a prize at the Chunhyang contest in high school." She continued, "I was scared and thought, 'Is this the right job for me?' I wanted to run away and considered quitting. But I kept getting drawn to it," revealing that she walked the path of an actress as if it were fate.
Jang Shin-young's mother, reminiscing about her daughter's first appearance fee of 30,000 won, said, "You worked hard for our family. You went through a lot," evoking deep emotion.
Additionally, Jang Shin-young revealed her connection with singer and actress Lee Jung-hyun during her high school years. She said, "The entire school went crazy to see senior Lee Jung-hyun, who came to shoot at our school. It was amazing to meet my idol again on 'Fun-Staurant.'" Lee Jung-hyun responded, "I remember," creating a warm atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Jang Shin-young's husband, actor Kang Kyung-jun, was embroiled in a lawsuit for damages against a third party last December; however, Jang Shin-young has expressed her intent to forgive and has since returned to her activities in entertainment shows and dramas.
