The broadcast of 'Under15' was canceled due to the controversy over child sexual commercialization, and although it was reported to air in Japan, KBS JAPAN decided not to schedule it.
On the 9th, KBS said, "KBS JAPAN received scheduling intentions for 'A Star Is Born' and has discussed scheduling on the premise after internal and external reviews and several consultations; however, considering the serious domestic and international public opinion, we ultimately decided not to schedule the channel."
It added, "KBS JAPAN is a separate entity in which KBS Media, a subsidiary, is the largest shareholder, and KBS JAPAN holds scheduling rights independently."
Recently, KBS JAPAN's official YouTube channel introduced 'A Star Is Born', which was renamed from 'Under15', in a video titled 'KBS World's recommended works for August 2025'. The video explained, 'World premiere! An audition for the birth of the 5th generation girl group challenging those under 15!'
'Under15' was set to premiere on March 31, but after the profiles and trailers of the participants were released, it became embroiled in issues such as child sexual commercialization. In response, MBN stated, "We will comprehensively review both the program's details and the possibility of airing it."
The production company, CREA Studio, stated, "We have decided that protecting 'grants' and restructuring is the best method. MBN will not schedule it. We will produce it in a way that does not impair the essence of the program and the sincerity of the participants."
Afterward, 'Under15' sought to present itself under the title 'A Star Is Born' through KBS JAPAN, but it became adrift again as KBS JAPAN decided not to schedule the channel.
