When asked how she met her husband, Yang Ji-eun said, "I attended Yonsei University Graduate School to become a music teacher, and my husband graduated from Yonsei University College of Dentistry, so I was introduced through mutual acquaintances. We spent 10 months as friends before he asked to go on a date, and after the first date, we got married four months later. He suggested we get married after a month of dating."
When asked what attracted her husband to Yang Ji-eun, she said, "I also don't know. I asked if it was my appearance that was his style, and he said it was not. He said he married me because I was kind."
Yang Ji-eun revealed, "I had to be tested for life after donating a kidney to my dad. It was hard to talk about since I hadn't even had a baby and underwent major surgery. The elders advised me to hide it. I brought it up early in our relationship, and he said it made him like me even more. I was so grateful for that. It was so heartwarming to hear what I thought was a burden framed as a strength, and my father-in-law said the same. That's why our marriage progressed quickly."
The two, who are the same age, got married at 26, saying, "If we are to get married, shouldn't we be open about how much we each have at that time? I had 5 million won. My husband had a similar amount. However, we both agreed not to accept help from our families and decided to try to get married with just 10 million won. I had a dream that my sister and I could get married in the church where our parents got married, and if you didn't like it, we could go to another venue, and he said he liked that idea a lot. So we did it at a small church in Hallim, Jeju."
In response, Hong Hyun-hee asked, "Wasn't it hard in the early days of marriage?" Yang Ji-eun replied, "It was really tough then because both of us weren't making money. My husband was serving in the defense, and we lived on his salary to support four people. We struggled with that until he was discharged after three years. But because of that, we became even closer."
