Dr. Oh Eun-young, from 'My Precious Child', gave a stern warning to the mother of Geumjok.
In the episode aired on the 8th on Channel A's 'Recently Parenting - My Precious Child', the scene of a mother excessively controlling Geumjok was depicted.
On that day, while solving a workbook, Geumjok said, "I have a final exam next. If I score 100 points, I should get a bike." In response, the mother said, "A score of 100 points is 100 points, and you must surely score 100 points," to which a surprised Geumjok replied, "Why? I don't want to. I'm not going to score 100. I didn't think you'd think I had to get 100 points."
Amidst a streak of correct answers, Geumjok got one question wrong. The mother sharply asked, "Do you know why you got it wrong? Can you really solve all of them? Did you write it incorrectly?"
Eventually, even after receiving a score of 90 out of 100, the mother said, "In a real exam, they don't allow mistakes," offering criticism rather than praise. In response, the mother acknowledged, "There weren't many praises for Geumjok. I have also forced her to be good at everything."
Dr. Oh Eun-young pointed out, "From what I understand, the mother is someone who has no acceptance and many demands," adding, "Even if you score 90 points, the incorrect questions are more visible, so isn't this something that should be done properly?" From the child's perspective, this is excessive interference and nagging.
She further expressed concern, saying, "So what does the child do? They build a shield. But the shield that the child raises is attacking the mother without saying a word. So, in fact, the child thinks they are being attacked and, hurting from the attack, they attack their mother. How difficult must this child be feeling? How much must they think they are a bad child? How anxious must they be?"
