HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE's songs have surpassed a cumulative 1 billion streams on Spotify, the world's largest music platform.
According to Spotify on the 8th (local time), the total cumulative play count of the 13 songs released by KATSEYE has exceeded 1 billion as of that day. This milestone comes just over 1 year and 1 month after their debut. Considering that it took about 11 months to release their second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' after the first EP 'SIS' (Soft Is Strong), this achievement is even more remarkable.
In fact, the songs from the second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' have gained immense popularity, leading to a sharp increase in streaming. The song 'Gabriela' from this album achieved 1 million streams in just 38 days after its release, setting the record for the fastest song by KATSEYE to reach this play count. Previously, 'Gnarly' took 52 days, 'Touch' took 82 days, and 'Debut' took even longer. KATSEYE has been significantly shortening this period with each new release.
KATSEYE's upward trend continues on major global charts as well. On the same day, the latest official chart in the UK (for Aug. 8-14) saw 'Gabriela' re-enter at number 97. It first entered the chart at number 42 (June 27 - July 3) and stayed in the ranking for four consecutive weeks before taking a brief pause but has now climbed back up.
The momentum is also evident on Spotify. In the 'Weekly Top Songs Global' (based on the tally from Aug. 1-7), 'Gabriela' rose three spots to number 28, while 'Gnarly' jumped an impressive 14 spots to rank at number 87. In the 'Daily Top Songs Global' (for Aug. 7), 'Gabriela' reached number 24, and 'Gnarly' reached number 80, improving four spots and six spots, respectively, from the previous day.
The explosive live performances of KATSEYE play a significant role in their rising popularity. They recently performed an energetic show for about 40 minutes at 'Lollapalooza Chicago', the largest music festival in the U.S. and called the 'dream stage', generating buzz on YouTube and other social media platforms. They received enthusiastic responses from tens of thousands of spectators, along with praise from local media and critics.
KATSEYE's popularity and status are increasingly rising in the global market as well. The six members (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, Yoonchae) were invited last month to be voting members of the Recording Academy®, which oversees the Grammy Awards. Voting members have the eligibility to participate in the Grammy winner selection process, which is one of the indicators of an artist's influence in the U.S. music industry.
Meanwhile, KATSEYE will appear at 'Summer Sonic 2025', held in Tokyo, Japan, from Aug. 16-18. As KATSEYE continues to take the stage at major global festivals, music fans around the world are focused on their journey and new records.
