Former S.E.S member Shu has opened up for the first time about the gambling and BJ broadcasting controversies that have stirred up public attention, as well as her painful past with her husband Lim Hyo-seong.
On the 8th, a video titled "The controversial incident... I will tell everything today (first release)" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Human That's Shu.' Shu said, "I didn't have a chance to speak, and I think I was running away," breaking her silence and speaking up.
Shu first addressed the controversy over her outfit exposure during her appearance on BJ broadcasts, stating, "An offer came in when I had to pay money. I wanted to make my channel a space to communicate with fans, but I chose the wrong outfit for the first broadcast," adding, "At that time, cutout styles were trending, and after much deliberation, I chose that, but standing in front of the lights and camera, it unintentionally looked wrong."
She continued, "I wasn't in a situation where I received balloons or anything. I was supposed to receive a deposit then, and there were things I had to solve. I didn't have a choice, and I thought I could put out the urgent fire with the deposit and create a good broadcast."
She revealed that her gambling began after attending an event in Las Vegas, USA. Shu recalled, "A friend who spoke English well and was pretty said, 'Sister, let's do something, let's eat something,' and then asked, 'Want to do something fun? Do you have a resident ID?' and took my ID. I hadn't really experienced social life, so I didn't know much."
She said, "I first saw an environment where calling anywhere would mean 100 million won arrives by taxi. I foolishly envied that and had no idea they were part of the same group. It felt like hell. I thought I could just win without thinking about losing, and they were encouraging me... The prosecutor said it was 'working.'
In addition, there was an incident where she was caught for violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act during the process of exchanging money into Hong Kong dollars in Macau, due to unawareness of reporting obligations. Shu disclosed, "I didn't understand why I had to report when I was just changing my own money."
On that broadcast, her husband Lim Hyo-seong also appeared and talked about their past separation, debt issues, and a shocking incident. He said, "I was apart from Shu. One day, I received a call that there was debt, and at that time, I was incompetent. He said the debt was 280 million won when our relationship was not good. After a day of contemplation, I combined borrowed money from friends and my savings and paid it directly. But it was already altered."
He continued, "I also stayed out of the house for a night and two days and couldn't talk to her about money. At one point, I even tried to die. I took a lot of medication, and I had to carry her and run." Shu wept, saying, "The kids must not hear this."
Lim Hyo-seong said, "I don't know what kind of presence I am to you, but I hope you live well," and shared that one day, a person surnamed Yoo called and said, 'Soo-young is acting strange.' Even when he asked the police, they wouldn't tell him her location. He also mentioned feeling uneasy before that day, saying he had even slept in front of her room that day, with only thoughts of saving her in mind.
