Broadcaster Kim Byung-man has terminated the parental rights of his ex-wife A's daughter, B, following a lengthy court battle.
On the 8th, Kim Byung-man's agency, Sky Turtle, stated to OSEN, "(B's) allegations of false accusations leading to immoral behavior have been acknowledged, resulting in the termination of parental rights."
On that day at 2 p.m., the Seoul Family Court ruled in favor of Kim Byung-man in his petition for the termination of parental rights concerning B. In 2010, Kim Byung-man married A, a woman seven years older, and also adopted B, A's daughter from a previous marriage, as his own.
Adoption of a child as one's own recognizes an adopted child as being born during marriage, terminating the legal relationship with the biological parents and following the adoptive parents' surname. However, Kim Byung-man filed for divorce from A in August 2020, and the divorce was finalized in September 2023.
At that time, Kim Byung-man filed for termination of parental rights regarding B twice, but lost because B did not wish to be terminated. Meanwhile, ahead of his upcoming marriage to his fiancée in September, Kim Byung-man filed a third petition for termination of parental rights to settle his relationship with A, after which B claimed that Kim Byung-man had an extramarital child during the time he was married to A and filed a paternity suit in the Seoul Family Court.
In this regard, Kim Byung-man acknowledged that he has two children with his fiancée, stating, "We had children after the marriage broke down."
Amid this, the court ruled in favor of Kim Byung-man after three lawsuits. Thus, Kim Byung-man has terminated the parental rights regarding B and completely settled his relationship with A ahead of his remarriage in September.
Meanwhile, Kim Byung-man will hold his wedding with his younger fiancée at a venue in Seoul on September 20.
