The K-POP world-scale debut project 'Boys 2 Planet' has heated up the fierce debut competition, igniting global fan enthusiasm with the '1vs1 class battle' stage.
In episode 4 of Mnet's 'Boys 2 Planet' (BOYS II PLANET / directed by Kim Shin-young, Jung Woo-young, and Ko Jeong-kyoung), the '1vs1 class battle' unfolding on one stage was dramatically revealed, continuing from last week. This battle, featuring hit songs from K-POP representative artists who won rookie awards at the Mnet year-end awards ceremony, showcased an unprecedented stage where talented individuals from each class formed teams.
Participants' survival is at stake in the second global vote, which can be participated in through the official platform Mnet Plus until 10 a.m. on Friday, the 8th. The total of 48 survivors determined through the main vote will have the last surviving participant, who ranks lowest, decided through the 'final survivor live vote' during the first survivor announcement live streaming held at 3 p.m. today.
In episode 4, aired yesterday (the 7th), cover stages of various concepts were revealed, showcasing teams up to two, including Dongbang's 'Rising Sun', ZEROBASEONE's 'KILL THE ROMEO', aespa's 'Whiplash', and TWS's 'First meeting didn't go as planned,' proving their skills and individuality.
In particular, team 1 of 'Whiplash' is so-called 'Avengers team,' personally consisting of Yumeki, with major participants concentrated around the killing part, Lee Sang-won. Although they experienced crises such as disappointing evaluations during rehearsals, Yumeki's tears, and Kinky's criticism of the choreography, they dramatically revived on stage and garnered cheers from the star creators. Lee Sang-won noted, "It became a great support for me who lacked confidence," showcasing a perfectly transformed appearance as the killing part, and the team was selected as the 'special benefit' winning team through the star creator vote. They were granted participation in Mnet's 'M Countdown' stage and the 'studio dance' content.
Additionally, a shocking reversal stage was born where one-star class participants defeated the all-star class. Team 2, under Jeon Yi-jeong's leadership, replaced the killing part with Choi Lib-u and restructured their team tactics. The two teams, demonstrating excellent refreshing concept performance, secured victory after a close contest, earning a benefit of 300,000 points and gaining an opportunity for a comeback.
On this day's broadcast, results for each team were continuously revealed, intensifying the debut competition. On the 'KILL THE ROMEO' stage, team 1 achieved a complete victory by a wide margin. In particular, Yang Hee-chan exuded a strong presence from the start and demonstrated stability in high notes and rap positions. Master Lim Han-byeol praised, "The traces of concern for each individual to be clearly visible on stage shines through," highly evaluating the team's overall completeness.
In the 'Rising Sun' match, team 1 showcased overwhelming dance precision and refreshing high note execution, overpowering team 2 by a large score difference. Even though team 2, which showed anxiety during the mid-check, maintained their concentration until the end and completed the performance, team 1, ahead in completeness, secured an additional benefit of 100,000 points, proving their competitiveness. Lee Seok-hoon also expressed, "It was impressive to see their burning determination" despite the close competition.
Among all the stages, the 'Whiplash' stage showcased the most intense contest, undoubtedly highlighting the day's battle. Team 2 demonstrated strong will even in a disadvantageous position, chasing until the end, but team 1 achieved a nail-biting final victory, while team 2, although they lost, earned recognition for both their skill and teamwork, completing the 'Did well despite losing' stage. Master Kinky added praise, saying, "Every member was so intense that it made one think about where the killing part was."
Meanwhile, episode 5 of 'Boys 2 Planet,' scheduled to air at 9:20 p.m. on August 14 (Thursday), will reveal the first survivor announcement. As this moment reflects the results of the '1vs1 class battle' and the global vote, attention is focused on which participants will continue to the next challenge.
