The movie 'Pretty Crazy' (directed by Lee Sang-geun, provided/distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Ouyou Naegyeong) is a devilish comedy film that captures the struggles of a young unemployed man, Gil-gu (Ahn Bo-hyun), who gets involved in an unusual part-time job watching over Seon-ji (Lim Yoon-a), who wakes up as a devil every dawn. This is the new work presented by director Lee Sang-geun, who captivated over 9.42 million viewers in 2019 with the movie 'Exit,' and Lim Yoon-a reunites with director Lee Sang-geun to play the title role of 'devil' as Seon-ji once again.
Lim Yoon-a divides the movie's atmosphere with 'daytime Seon-ji' and 'nighttime Seon-ji.' The daytime Seon-ji, embodying pure beauty, makes Gil-gu fall in love at first sight. She is a beauty that captivates everyone, regardless of age. With long straight hair, fair skin, slender limbs, and sparkling large eyes, she looks like a painting. 'Nighttime Seon-ji' is the complete opposite. With wavy hippie curls, alluring red lips, heavy makeup, and strikingly bright clothing, 'nighttime Seon-ji' radiates intense energy like her stunning beauty. This is because she is a devil who is active even at dawn.
Amid this, Lim Yoon-a offsets the burden of playing two starkly different characters with stable skills. This seems to prove that the positive reviews from popular dramas like 'King the Land' and 'Big Mouth' were not mere exaggerations.
Especially, the experience from consecutive comedy films, including the 'Cooperation' series and 'Exit,' seems to have laid the groundwork for this work. The somewhat contrived setting of 'possessed by a devil' is brought to life by Lim Yoon-a's unique playful laughter, contorted expressions, and twisted body movements. Of course, whether as the pure 'daytime Seon-ji' or the contorted devil 'nighttime Seon-ji,' her beauty remains unchanged.
The charm of actress Lim Yoon-a herself is the driving force behind 'Pretty Crazy.' The fun of watching her play the title role, crossing between human and devil with acting variations and beauty constitutes a significant part of the enjoyment in watching the film. In addition, Lim Yoon-a shows stable chemistry with Gil-gu, played by Ahn Bo-hyun, comedic moments with her father, Sung Dong-il, and with her cousin, Joo Hyun-young, driving the movie forward.
