On the broadcast of MBC entertainment show 'Save Me! Homes' on the 7th, Kwak Yoon-ki, a former short track national team member, appeared and shared his recent status after retirement.
He introduced himself cheerfully, saying, "While I used to train, these days I am enjoying my unemployed life," drawing attention. The cast greeted him warmly, calling him "the living history of short track."
Kwak Yoon-ki expressed his retirement sentiments, saying, "I received a lot of support and love over 30 years, and thanks to that, I had a happy athletic career." However, he candidly mentioned, "The truth is I was physically struggling in competition with my juniors," and when announcer Kim Dae-ho joked, "You were defeated," Kwak Yoon-ki shot back, "I was indeed properly defeated," bringing laughter.
Kim Dae-ho, who appeared alongside him that day, mentioned that he is also 4 to 5 months into retirement, and when he asked, "I'm curious about the daily life of someone who finished their athletic career," Kwak Yoon-ki confessed, "I used to wake up at 5 a.m. for training, but now there's no reason to do that. Initially, it felt great, but as time passed, the sense of emptiness of 'What am I doing now?' began to weigh on me."
