Broadcaster Hong Jin Kyung's divorce was distinguished.
Hong Jin Kyung appeared on the YouTube channel 'House Gone Jeong Seon Hee', which was released on the 6th, and stated, "Both Rael and Rael's dad are doing well. It's unfortunate that we have only now become strangers and have regained true friendship, but we are doing fine now. I had a heavy heart wondering when and how to bring up these stories."
Earlier, a media outlet reported that Hong Jin Kyung had finalized her divorce after 28 years of marriage with her husband. According to the report, the couple decided to focus on their own lives after much contemplation, and a spokesperson noted that it was "a consensual divorce without fault."
Hong Jin Kyung said, "I first met my husband in 1998. I have known, loved, and lived with only one person for 28 years," adding, "You might be curious about why we separated, but there is no fault on either side. We just thought, 'Let's try living a little differently.'"
She continued, "After becoming strangers, we developed true friendship, and now he is a good older brother I can rely on like before. My husband still comes home often, and our mothers from both sides have meals together frequently and maintain a good relationship," revealing, "I didn't know my mom and mother-in-law were this cool. It's almost Hollywood-style."
Hong Jin Kyung married a businessman five years older than her in 2003 and welcomed her daughter Rael in 2010. Her confession that "I urged him to marry first. I persuaded him to live together once. Marriage wasn't easy. Fortunately, my mother-in-law didn't expect much" is well-known.
She explained the background of the divorce announcement, saying, "My mother-in-law suggested that 'let's announce it after Rael grows a bit more,' so we have been quiet so far. In fact, many reporters knew, and there were a lot of requests for coverage, but the agency asked us to wait. We couldn't postpone it any longer, so I told my mother-in-law and we made it public."
After 28 years of companionship, Hong Jin Kyung and her ex-husband chose their own paths for mutual happiness. These days, amidst rampant mudslinging allegations during divorces, their mature actions have led to Rael being less hurt.
