The K-action hero series 'Twelve,' set to captivate viewers this summer with a vibrant array of characters, unveils the character poster and stills for 'Malok' (Sung Dong-il), the manager of the 12 angels.
The series 'Twelve,' inspired by the 12 zodiac signs of the Tongyang, is an action hero narrative depicting a battle against evil forces by 12 angels who live in human forms to protect humanity.
Sung Dong-il, an acclaimed actor representing Korea, takes on the role of 'Malok,' the manager of the 12 angels, becoming a strong central figure for 'Twelve.' Director Han Yoon-sun noted that 'Malok,' a character who allows viewers to empathize with the 12 angels, was born from the idea that having such a character could enhance the story's relatability. 'Malok' is a special human endowed with the divine command to gather and protect angels, having been alongside them since ancient times.
Currently, he works as a detective, solving problems that arise for the angels. Sung Dong-il explained that he aimed to portray 'Malok's' leadership as sometimes friendly and warm, while at other times cold and resolute, depending on the situation. Regarding 'Malok's' ability to create barriers to fight and seal evil forces using his staff, he shared, "As the barriers are implemented through CGI, I aimed to act considering the movements and position of the barriers, and had numerous discussions and rehearsals with the staff," heightening expectations for how his efforts and concerns will manifest in action sequences. 'Malok's' fresh and witty actions using a staff are expected to bring a unique enjoyment to many viewers.
The character poster and stills of 'Malok' showcase his sense of responsibility and firm resolve to protect the angels and the human world, as indicated by the deer ('rock' in Chinese characters) prominently depicted in calligraphy in the poster, which adds to the intense aura of 'Malok' as he stands against evil.
The stills capture the tension-filled confrontation with the forces of evil that appear before 'Malok,' as well as his face revealing a burning inner fury after witnessing something, further piquing curiosity about how 'Malok' will act alongside the angels to safeguard the human world.
With the release of 'Malok's' character poster and stills, 'Twelve' raises curiosity about the birth of the zodiac hero. The series is set to premiere simultaneously on Disney+ and KBS 2TV on Saturday, Aug. 23, drawing expectations not only from domestic audiences but from viewers around the world.
