Hailey Brook, the wife of Hanwha Eagles pitcher Ryan Weiss, stated that she is experiencing discomfort due to repeated requests for autographs from an APT. gym employee.
Hailey Brook recently posted a message on Instagram stating, "I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable right now."
She noted, "The APT. gym employee asked me to get my husband Weiss and Cody Ponce's autographs, so I did. But after that, every time I meet him, he says he wants to get the autograph ball. It's hard to exercise comfortably as I go to the gym every day."
Hailey Brook explained that the gym employee came to their house and repeatedly requested autographs.
She wrote, "Ryan was sleeping, and the employee showed up in front of our house and rang the doorbell. When I opened the door, he brought 12 peaches and balls and requested each of Cody and Ryan to sign 6 balls. I felt very nervous at that moment, and honestly, I wished he would just leave."
She continued, "Even after I said Ryan was sleeping, he rang the doorbell again and made the request again. It was very unsettling for someone to come to our house, but since Ryan needed to sleep, I said I would go ahead and sign. I was surprised by the request for 12 autograph balls."
Hailey Brook expressed, "I might be overreacting due to cultural differences. I don't know what to do. Should I write a letter explaining that getting autographs is difficult in the future?"
Later, Hailey Brook reported that after the APT. management became aware of the employee's excessive requests, she received an apology from the management.
She noted, "Many people contacted the APT. on my behalf, and the APT. management office came to visit. The employee also apologized, saying he thought we were close enough for him to come to our house."
She added, "The balls that were requested for autographs are to be returned, and the APT. requested that no one contacts us anymore, and they said they would inform staff not to come to the house or request autographs."
Ryan Weiss signed a formal contract with Hanwha Eagles in July last year. After the season ended that year, he confirmed a re-contract for a maximum of $950,000 (about 1.33 billion won) by combining a guaranteed amount of $750,000 and an incentive of $200,000, performing as a right-handed pitcher.
