Comedy entertainment master Lee Kyung Kyu overcomes the controversy over drug driving and aims for a big hit on 'My Turn'.
On the afternoon of the 7th, the online press conference for SBS's new entertainment show 'One Hit Project - My Turn' was held via live streaming. Present at the press conference were Lee Kyung Kyu, Tak Jae Hoon, Choo Sung Hoon, Lee Soo Ji, Kim Won Hoon, Park Ji Hyun, and Nam Yoon Soo, who shared various stories.
'One Hit Project - My Turn' is a fundamentally baseless fake reality show where Lee Kyung Kyu, Tak Jae Hoon, Choo Sung Hoon, Lee Soo Ji, Kim Won Hoon, and Park Ji Hyun aim for a big hit through a trot idol project.
Lee Kyung Kyu harbors ambitions to reclaim the entertainment award through the trot idol producer in 'My Turn'. When asked about his desire for an actual entertainment award, Tak Jae Hoon noted, "I heard Kyung Kyu has been preparing acceptance speeches for several months. It feels like he has a grudge this time. Even during filming, he works the hardest. He really serves as a model." Lee Kyung Kyu responded, "Personally, I've had some ups and downs, so I can't afford not to work hard. I will stand tall."
Kim Won Hoon said, "The impressive scene for me is when Kyung Kyu senior is being dragged by the police, which seems to convey a lot. It leaves a strong impact." Lee Kyung Kyu remarked, "I'm an actor who is walking alongside this drama and reality," adding, "I'm dedicating everything to make sure the audience confuses acting with reality. It's 'My Turn.'"
When asked if he felt there was a possibility of winning an entertainment award while filming, Lee Kyung Kyu replied, "Isn't it around July and August now? Talking about it now is premature," but added, "I don't see the possibility as nonexistent. Because when a person falls, they can rise significantly." Kim Won Hoon asked, "Hasn't that happened a lot?" to which Lee Kyung Kyu emphasized, "I have completely risen. I will rise with 'My Turn.' The show title is my life. It's 'My Turn.'"
Kim Won Hoon said, "I also shot for the first time with my senior, and I heard he doesn't usually have that much passion during filming, but while doing 'My Turn,' I realized that rumor was wrong. He is truly passionate." He then asked, "There is still a lot of time left, but if you were to predict the entertainment award candidates, who would they be?" Lee Kyung Kyu confidently replied, "Someone will come out of 'My Turn.' If you think about the SBS Entertainment Awards ceremony now, the members here are incredibly busy. I can picture a scene where we go up and down, receiving awards, thanking each other, and that kind of imagery."
He expressed the reason for appearing in a fake documentary program again, saying, "I thought entertainment was like a documentary. I anticipated the fake documentary would (get popular) once. But then, they specifically presented a fake documentary. I highly regard the production team's excellent decisiveness and wisdom. I want to say that choosing a fake documentary was a stroke of genius."
Tak Jae Hoon discussed his character, stating, "When I wasn't active as a singer, Kyung Kyu hyung approached me with a deal to do this trot music. I said I didn't want to do it, but I was forced into it by my weaknesses." He emphasized, "That's the case in the show, but did you receive that kind of pressure in real life?" to which he affirmed, "Correct. The reason I ended up participating here is because the broadcasting station knew. And the fact is, although we smile together and sing while standing on stage, each one has hidden ambitions in this kind of mean and petty entertainment."
He remarked, "It's a fake documentary, but I previously did a fake documentary called 'The God of Music.' I thought Kyung Kyu hyung might still lack the basics of a fake documentary, so I'm watching closely. However, they are all talented individuals, so they are filming each episode differently at a rapid pace. I feel a sense of crisis," and added, "In any case, the SBS award is singular. They won't give out two. I can't reveal who that one will be here, so I'll keep it in my heart. My goal is to receive the SBS award one year and then skip a year, because that's the most rewarding. I received it in 2023." This directly revealed his desire for the award. In response, Lee Kyung Kyu remarked, "Receiving it after 10 years would be a real sensation. There will be a lot of articles written. It'll be the complete main story."
Choo Sung Hoon stated, "I believe every member here will inevitably succeed and be able to perform on a grand stage; I am the one in charge of the sexy aspect." Recently active in various genres of entertainment, he shared his thoughts on fields he wants to pursue in the future, saying, "'My Turn' feels like a new challenge. Until now, I've been a guest or MC, but this is my first experience with this feeling and this type of filming. It's a mix of half acting, half real; it's a lot of fun. That is one of my biggest challenges." Tak Jae Hoon praised, "Right now, we can't keep up with Choo Sung Hoon's ad-libs."
Lee Soo Ji asserted, "I hold the key in 'My Turn.' Amid various desires, I'm utilizing this key, and I'm wondering how a reversal role will emerge. Remember that you must not miss the various roles I'll be showcasing like a chameleon. I am the one leading Kyung Kyu's pursuit, and I am also catching Kyung Kyu."
Lee Soo Ji, who has showcased various characters across different channels, transforms into a swaggering rapper in 'My Turn.' She mentioned, "I'm a man to the bone. Whatever topic is thrown at me, I can respond with rap," and Tak Jae Hoon remarked, "When she mixes with us, it's hard to recognize her as Su Ji. She can digest that to the point where you might forget her. It's confusing to that extent."
Park Ji Hyun mentioned, "I seem to just be a dumb character," adding, "Having placed second, now I want to achieve first place. So, I'm playing a role that prevents the group from fracturing." Kim Won Hoon explained, "Initially, I came in thinking I was a member of the trot idol group, but unexpectedly ended up playing the role of a manager, feeling a lot of unjust moments. There's a lot of conflict in between. I would appreciate it if you found that amusing."
On the other hand, Nam Yoon Soo stated, "I'm responsible for the visual aspect of the group and I'm the youngest. I'm not sure why I'm here, but Producer Kyung Kyu actively recruited me." Tak Jae Hoon said bluntly, "That kid's tone doesn't match with us at all," while Kim Won Hoon added, "It's not a suitable tone for entertainment, but he's making quite an impact." Tak Jae Hoon noted, "I'm curious to see how Yoon Soo will mix with those individuals in entertainment." Lee Kyung Kyu promised, "When I see it, I think he has found his character. I assure you that Yoon Soo will shine the most when the show airs. Just wait and see."
Regarding his actual singing abilities, Nam Yoon Soo shared, "I have a bad sense of rhythm and struggled quite a bit. Since I'm the type to immerse myself fully in every drama or movie, I think I showed myself well." Tak Jae Hoon teased, "Those who pretend to be tone-deaf tend to give themselves away. Genuine tone-deafness doesn't show. You can tell once you listen. This isn't about being tone-deaf; you just shouldn't sing. Really," he dissed, and Lee Kyung Kyu added, "The setting is remarkable. Is he really doing it that way? Is it genuine or not? You can check that out in 'My Turn.'"
He relayed the chemistry among the members. Lee Kyung Kyu noted, when asked about which members have great synergy, "More than the synergy, I find it hilarious while filming 'My Turn' whenever Choo Sung Hoon delivers lines. He's the most enjoyable among our members. I wonder if he understands what we're talking about, as he does his own thing; all of it matches. Moreover, he enjoys it too much. Apparently, he told his manager at his company that this is the most fun show he's been involved in." Tak Jae Hoon remarked, "It might be difficult. There can be a difference in fast speech and humor codes, but he tries a lot. Using his instincts and various wits and quick responses to mix with us," and humorously stated, "I think we are taking off our outfits more for 'My Turn' than in actual matches."
When asked about their target ratings, Tak Jae Hoon responded, "It's this entertaining; if it doesn't hit 11%, we should wrap it up." Choo Sung Hoon added, "Shouldn't we set big goals? If you look at it rationally, if we reach around 8%, that would be a huge success. And half of that is 4%, right? 4% is also good, so I'll aim for 8%." Tak Jae Hoon suggested, "If we want to succeed, shouldn't we avoid switching time slots with 'I Live Alone'? I heard the president is especially interested in this program and has even seen the first episode in advance. That should tell you something," eliciting laughter. Lee Kyung Kyu asserted, "Ratings are important nowadays, but trending is also significant. We are already in the trending discussions. The preview views are no joke."
Lastly, Lee Kyung Kyu remarked, "On August 7 at 9 p.m., if there's nothing major happening, please fixate on the SBS channel and I will definitely reward you. I ask for your support in viewership." To which Tak Jae Hoon added, "Today, I sincerely hope nothing happens in this country. I want to have our own time for 'My Turn.' You can look forward to the first episode of 'My Turn.'"
