Comedian Kim Byeong-man has been sued by his adopted daughter for a "confirmation of existing parent-child relationship lawsuit," and Kim's side has spoken out.
On the 7th, Kim Byeong-man's agency told OSEN, "Regarding the article published today by Ten Asia, we have not yet received delivery of the lawsuit filed by his ex-wife's daughter, Ms. Kim, related to inheritance, so we cannot confirm its authenticity. However, the ruling on the parental rights termination concerning Ms. Kim is expected tomorrow (8th) at 2 p.m."
Earlier that day, Ten Asia reported that Kim Byeong-man's adopted daughter filed a "confirmation of existing parent-child relationship lawsuit" against Kim Byeong-man at the Seoul Family Court.
The adopted daughter claims that during the period Kim Byeong-man was married to his ex-wife, Ms. A, he had two children with another woman, and it is highly likely that they are Kim Byeong-man's extramarital children.
The daughter reportedly requested the court to order a DNA test, stating, "I have a significant interest in these matters related to inheritance."
In relation to this, Kim Byeong-man's side stated, "Kim Byeong-man is set to marry on September 20th, and since the marriage relationship deteriorated, he has had two children with his current fiancée," emphasizing that the children exist but they were born after the marriage relationship ended.
Meanwhile, Kim Byeong-man adopted Ms. A's daughter after registering their marriage in 2010, but the couple began living apart in 2019 and finalized their separation in 2020.
However, just four years after their divorce, in November of last year, accusations surfaced that Kim Byeong-man assaulted his ex-wife, Ms. A, leading to significant scandal. In particular, there was a situation where the daughter between Ms. A and her ex-husband was registered on Kim Byeong-man's family registry, and a parental rights termination was necessary, but "Ms. A is demanding 3 billion won from Kim Byeong-man under these conditions. Since Ms. A also managed the property, Kim Byeong-man is required to partitioning his assets, but in order to avoid this, she falsely accused him. It was shocking that she had taken out numerous life insurance policies in Kim Byeong-man's name."
Subsequently, Kim Byeong-man has filed for parental rights termination with his adopted daughter three times, and the ruling on the last lawsuit is scheduled for August 8th.
