Actor An Bo-hyun shared his feelings about working with actress Lim Yoon-a.
An Bo-hyun met with reporters at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 7th for an interview regarding the film 'Pretty Crazy' (directed by Lee Sang-keun, provided and distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Ouyun Naegyeong).
'Pretty Crazy' is a demon-possessed comedy that tells the story of a young jobless man, Gil-gu (An Bo-hyun), who gets caught up in an unusual part-time job watching Seon-ji (Lim Yoon-a), who wakes up as a demon every dawn. Receiving praise for its unique premise of the meeting between a demon and a jobless young man, 'Pretty Crazy' is the second film by director Lee Sang-keun, who had considered this project as his debut work and gained massive success with 'Exit,' which recorded 9.42 million in box office sales. Director Lee's pure and harmless direction shines in this film.
Gil-gu, the young jobless man played by An Bo-hyun, falls in love at first sight with Seon-ji (Lim Yoon-a), who moves into the apartment below him. After discovering the shocking fact that she transforms into a demon every dawn, he volunteers for a 'extreme part-time job' to protect her every early morning. Despite his tall stature and robust physique, Gil-gu's shy and gentle personality allows An Bo-hyun to showcase a surprising charm.
With the film's release approaching, An Bo-hyun said, "I had been communicating with the director, so I jokingly asked when it would come out, and I thought it would be great if it came out in the summer. I had been waiting for that timing a lot, but I thought it would be a film that would come out someday, so I hoped it would come out at the right time and waited with excitement."
He added, "It's not my first leading role, but I have that mindset as if it is. I don't feel pressure regarding box office success, although there is some pressure as it's my first time. There are sweet, healing aspects, but I don't think about the need for it to succeed or to exceed the break-even point. I hope many people will watch it, and I'm not thinking specifically about the results."
Born in 1988, An Bo-hyun experienced the heyday of Lim Yoon-a from 'Girls' Generation' while working together in 'Pretty Crazy.' Regarding collaborating with the 'national center' Lim Yoon-a, An Bo-hyun said, "It was so surreal. I received criticism from friends saying, 'Who do you think you are?' but I felt good about it. Even now, when I meet Lim Yoon-a after a long time, it feels new and beautiful, and I think, 'She really is the center of Girls' Generation.'"
An Bo-hyun has not even shared photos taken with Lim Yoon-a with his friends for strict security. He said, "My hometown is Busan, and my friends would already know. If I had sent a proof shot with Lim Yoon-a, it would have been disseminated by now. It's probably circulating somewhere. It's something to boast about to them, but it could be a spoiler for the production company. When I only mentioned it, my friends didn't seem to believe me. Now that my poster is hanging in theaters, they cover me and take pictures with Lim Yoon-a to send."
Regarding his acting chemistry with Lim Yoon-a, An Bo-hyun said, "The director wanted us to bond after the first reading, so we had a drink together. After night filming, the Lim Yoon-a team and An Bo-hyun team had a bowl of soup and a drink in the morning. I didn't have any prejudices, but I felt that even though she's an idol and a national treasure like Girls' Generation, she's a person who feels very human. She's the same as everyone, and she was better at dealing with people than I am, who am clumsy with that. I learned a lot, and the atmosphere on set was great."
