Born in 1978, Lee Min emigrated to the United States at the age of 3 months and grew up there. She debuted in November 1999 as part of the group Aes One and gained popularity with her delicate yet distinctive vocal tone. From her debut song "You Don't Know" to "Day By Day," "Absolutely Not," and "I Want and I Resent," she received much love through various hit songs.
The news of her passing is particularly shocking as she was active until recently. Aes One released the digital single "Still My Baby" in February and the song "Happy Birthday" in June. Notably, she featured in the third single "You Just Have to Stay" by Hanhae and Moon Seyoon released last month, and she also appeared on KBS 2TV's "Park Bogum's Cantabile" on the 4th of the same month.
Lee Min married her non-celebrity husband, who is two years her senior, in November 2013 in Hawaii and had been residing in Korea since then. They have no children.
The music industry is in shock over Lee Min's sudden demise, and her colleagues have also paid tribute to her final journey. Crystal, a member of Aes One, is rushing back from the United States after hearing the news, and she plans to arrive at the funeral home as soon as today.
Composer Yoon Il-sang, who had a bond with her since her debut, wrote, "I will remember you as my only beautiful voice. Working with you was always a joy. Rest in peace, Rest in music," while singer Kim Hyun-sung expressed, "Now, what does it matter why? Just... Min, you were a truly good person. Always bright, cheerful, and kind. I wanted to contact you once... I shouldn't have hesitated. I already miss your smile and laughter."
Singers Park Hyo-shin, DJ DOC's Kim Chang-yeol, U-KISS's Alexander, S.E.S's Eugene, Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan, and comedian Moon Seyoon among others expressed their condolences by sending floral tributes, stating, "We sincerely pray for the repose of the deceased." Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan added, "Please sing in the heavens, my sister," revealing his sorrow.
Meanwhile, her agency Brand New Music announced the news of Lee Min's passing, stating, "The sudden news has left the bereaved family and all employees of Brand New Music in great shock and sadness.
