The name of the new team presented by the groups BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER's agency, Big Hit Music, has finally been revealed.
Big Hit Music opened the official social media channel for the new boy group at midnight on the 7th and revealed the team name CORTIS. CORTIS is a name created by irregularly taking six letters from the phrase "COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES." It means "to think freely outside the standards and rules set by the world." The five members, Martin, James, Juhun, Seonghyeon, and Gunho, will present their creations that reflect different thoughts and new perspectives, just like their group name.
CORTIS's method of revealing the team name was also unique. They first exposed the group name through a "logo sound" video posted on the global short-form video platform TikTok at midnight on the 7th. This short video was produced by Martin using the actual composition program he uses. The team name appears on screen while a mysterious sound, reminiscent of an unknown world opening, plays. As a "young creator crew" that collaborates in music, choreography, and video, they introduced themselves with the content they created.
On the same day, a video accompanying the "logo sound" was released, showcasing the members for the first time. CORTIS was seen happily immersed in work as they filmed each other in a space filled with various sound equipment and keyboards. This video captures the atmosphere of their actual workspace, allowing a glimpse into the true CORTIS. Additionally, promoting their team social media channel against the backdrop of a personally decorated workspace reveals an entirely new and original sensibility.
CORTIS will officially debut on the 18th. This "young creator crew," consisting entirely of teenagers, plans to showcase their creative abilities in various areas such as songwriting, composition, choreography, and videography, based on their own stories. Expectations for the newcomer from the K-pop fandom are already high, as Big Hit Music, known for producing groups like BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, releases its first new act in six years.
