Actors Lee Si-ah and Lee Il-hwa will pair up for the first time as 'mother and daughter Ripple' in the new KBS 2TV daily drama 'Intimate Ripple,' which will air its first episode on Sept. 22.
KBS2's new daily drama 'Intimate Ripple' (written by Lee Dohyun, directed by Son Seok-jin, produced by Neo Entertainment Co., Ltd., and Studio Spring) depicts the struggles of a mother and daughter Ripple, who are connected by a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship, as they engage in a war of lies to claim the Geonhyang family. 'Intimate Ripple,' directed by Son Seok-jin, who proved his fresh sensibility and refined directorial skills through the drama special 'Find Handsome,' and written by Lee Dohyun, who has shown delicate yet powerful narrative and writing talent in 'Witch's Game,' 'Secrets and Lies,' and 'Family's Secret,' is expected to become a captivating narrative that will leave a lasting impression on viewers in the second half of 2025.
Relatedly, actors Lee Si-ah and Lee Il-hwa, both possessing solid acting skills accumulated over 46 years of combined experience, will showcase their acting prowess as they portray the 'mother and daughter Ripple,' who live a false life and face desires and disasters.
First, Lee Si-ah will take on the role of Cha Jung-won, who begins a perilous false life to take revenge on her father, who has been falsely accused of murder, and her biological mother, Han Hye-ra, who abandoned her. In the drama, Cha Jung-won, despite inheriting innate talents in painting and design from her mother, is branded as the daughter of a murderer and endures a wretched life, eventually living the life of a chaebol's daughter through lies. Since her debut in 'Guam Heo Jun' in 2013, Lee Si-ah has received acclaim for her diverse character transformations in various works such as 'Strange Family,' 'Tunnel,' 'Everyone's Love,' 'Goryeo-Khitan War,' and 'The Queen Who Crowns.' She proves her expanded acting spectrum by transforming from a life of innocence to becoming a chaebol's daughter, ultimately facing her biological mother as her mother-in-law.
Lee Il-hwa will play Han Hye-ra, the new wife of Geonhyang Group Chairman Jin Tae-seok and vice-chairman, as well as the biological mother and mother-in-law of Cha Jung-won. In the drama, Han Hye-ra, who was abandoned in her youth for being poor, encounters Jin Tae-seok again and, driven by desire, abandons her husband and daughter, defying familial ties. She becomes embroiled in conflict when she confronts her biological daughter, who starts a dangerous false life to seek revenge against her. With an impressive 34-year acting career, Lee Il-hwa sheds her previously good-natured image to embody the character of the ruthless mother, Han Hye-ra, who grapples with desires and familial obligations.
The production team noted, 'Intimate Ripple' will not be a typical daily drama, but a drama that conveys messages across generations and eras about the relationship between a daughter and a mother. They expressed hope that it would be a relatable drama that makes viewers reconsider the existence of their children, whom they consider more precious than anything, and of mothers, whom they believed would always sacrifice for them.
Meanwhile, KBS2's new daily drama 'Intimate Ripple' will premiere on Sept. 22.
