'You Quiz on the Block' Yoon Kyung-ho revealed his family history for the first time.
On the 6th, in the broadcast of tvN's entertainment show 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereinafter 'You Quiz'), actor Yoon Kyung-ho, who is experiencing a resurgence after 20 years, appeared.
On that day, Yoo Jae-suk asked, "Did your mother listen to you in a fun way?" Yoon Kyung-ho replied, "She was my number one fan who listened to stories the best. My mother always listened to everything in a fun way. Talking to my mom helped me gain a lot of expressiveness and confidence."
In particular, Yoon Kyung-ho said, "My mom has always been that kind of presence for me," adding, "Actually, I've never properly brought up this topic anywhere, but since it's a place I won't come back to, I'll share it."
Yoon Kyung-ho recalled, "My mom depended on me a lot and lived like a friend, and I think she was my only friend. As I entered my teenage years, I started hanging out with other friends and, at some point, my mom became bothersome. Sometimes, it was burdensome to wait for my mom to listen to my stories."
"Later, I found out that my mom was suffering from severe depression. Unable to overcome her depression, she ultimately ended her own life," he said, noting, "At that time, my maternal grandmother also said, 'If you say your mom passed away like that, people may criticize you. Instead of saying she passed away like that, say she had an accident. I could never say how my mom passed away.'"
Yoon Kyung-ho said, "When something good happens, the person I think of the most is my mom, so after the joy, emptiness follows. No matter how much I talk, I can't fill this gap because there hasn't been anyone who reacted to me as sincerely as my mom. Even now, I'm in a very joyful and proud place, but since I have no one to share it with, there's always that sense of emptiness."
In a follow-up interview, when asked what he would want to tell his mother if she were alive, Yoon Kyung-ho said, "I want to talk a lot about the children. Having raised them, I feel like they resemble me so much. Did I do this too?" expressing his longing for his mother.
