Actress Im Yoon-a from the movie 'Pretty Crazy' expressed her thoughts on taking on a new comedic role after the 'Cooperation' series and 'Exit.'
On the afternoon of the 6th, a press preview and reporters' meeting for the film 'Pretty Crazy' (directed by Lee Sang-geun, presented/distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Ouyunae-gang) was conducted at the CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall located in the Yongsan District of Seoul. At the event, actors Im Yoon-a, Ahn Bo-hyun, and Joo Hyun-young attended alongside director Lee Sang-geun.
'Pretty Crazy' is a comedy film about a young man, Kil-gu (Ahn Bo-hyun), who gets caught up in an unusual part-time job watching over Seon-ji (Im Yoon-a), who wakes up as a devil every dawn. This is the latest work by director Lee Sang-geun, who captivated over 9.42 million moviegoers with the film 'Exit' in 2019, and it marks his reunion with Im Yoon-a after 'Exit,' generating high expectations.
Im Yoon-a noted, "I watched the movie for the first time today. Memories from the filming came flooding back as I watched, thinking about how the director crafted it. I feel like I experienced more than Seon-ji's feelings, so it's a refreshing experience. Seeing how well the other actors performed, I think the chemistry in 'Pretty Crazy' really stood out."
Im Yoon-a, who challenged herself to play a dual role as a ghost and a human, stated, "Externally, I aimed to clearly showcase the differences between day Seon-ji and night Seon-ji, so during the day, I adopted a pure styling and speech, reflecting an introverted personality, akin to an I-type in MBTI. In contrast, night Seon-ji was styled from head to toe without missing a beat. I added everything from nail art to colored contact lenses to create a glamorous look. The speech and tone were altered in a way that differed from day Seon-ji. Above all, my main focus was to ensure that the genuine emotions of Seon-ji and the devil would resonate with the audience."
After receiving favorable reviews for his comedic performances in 'Cooperation' and 'Exit,' he expressed his excitement about showcasing his comedic acting once again in 'Pretty Crazy.' He said, "I think Seon-ji is one of the most energetic characters I've played. Therefore, it seems I was able to film it more freely. When I received the script, I contemplated how the director would depict it since I worked on 'Exit' with him. I hoped that the acting would bring out the charm even more than when I just read it, and I wished the audience could really feel that charm. Honestly, I felt a bit shy about how I could express this, but the director provided great direction, so I was comfortable during filming. Since it's a character with the most energy, I was able to immerse myself excitedly and express it without restraint."
'Pretty Crazy' is set to be released in theaters nationwide on the 13th.
