Hong Jin Kyung revealed her divorce story.
On the 6th, a video titled "Finally, a story that only Hong Jin Kyung, Jeong Seon Hee's 30-year close friend, can tell" was uploaded on the YouTube channel "The Jeong Seon Hee Who Left Home."
Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that Hong Jin Kyung had ended her marriage with her husband. According to the report, Hong Jin Kyung and her husband finalized their divorce after agreeing to dedicate more time to their individual lives. Additionally, a broadcasting industry source noted that there was no fault on either side, stating they had lived well together for 22 years and agreed to live separately.
In relation to this, Hong Jin Kyung shared via YouTube, "Rael is doing well, and so is Rael's dad. The unfortunate thing is that now that we have finally become estranged, it's regrettable that we have regained true friendship, but we are doing well."
She reflected, "I was wondering when I should talk about this. Is it okay to let it flow like this without saying anything? I felt it was too deceiving. Part of my heart was always heavy, but I didn't know the right timing and didn't know how or where to talk about it."
He mentioned, "I met Rael's dad in the first few years in 1998. I've known Rael's dad for 28 years and lived together. You might be curious why we broke up, but it wasn't due to anyone's fault. We simply decided to live differently. After we separated and became estranged, true friendship developed, and he was the guy I trusted and followed during my previous relationships. He is now a wonderful guy to me."
Additionally, Hong Jin Kyung revealed, "My brother often comes over, and our in-laws and grandmothers still meet well. Especially, I didn't know my mom and mother-in-law were such cool people. It's almost like Hollywood. They often meet for meals."
Regarding the reasons for the divorce, she said, "(However) it's not that there is a decisive fault of one person," adding, "The biggest reason was that there was no longer XXX. But everyone lives like that. You may wonder if everyone gets divorced, but this is our personal choice, and that part was difficult for us."
She continued, "My mother-in-law kept saying, 'Wait until Rael grows a little more and then announce it.' So I couldn't say more. Actually, many reporters knew about it, and there were many discussions in the agency about writing articles, but the agency asked me to wait. I couldn't delay it any longer, and I informed my mother about the situation."
Regarding her ex-husband, who is also known to be close friends with Jeong Seon Hee, Hong Jin Kyung casually said, "Isn't my sister the same age as Rael's dad? Let's have a drink together, just like before." To this, Jeong Seon Hee responded, "If we do it like before, we might both get drunk and disappear," drawing laughter.
Meanwhile, Hong Jin Kyung married her husband, a businessman five years older, in 2003, and gave birth to her daughter, Rael, in 2010.
