The group ENHYPEN has set another record with their new single in Japan, proving their strong local popularity.
According to a preview article published on Billboard Japan's official website on Aug. 5, ENHYPEN (Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Niki) sold 575,330 copies of their fourth single in Japan, '宵 -YOI-' (Yoi), in its first week. With this, ENHYPEN achieved the distinction of being the first 'half-million seller' in Japan for singles and albums combined.
This single also secured second place on the Oricon Weekly Single Ranking (as of Aug. 11), setting a new record for the group's first week sales during the same period. Notably, ENHYPEN is the only overseas artist to surpass 400,000 copies in the first week (based on Oricon) for a single released in Japan, showcasing their immense popularity and influence.
'宵 -YOI-' showcased strong momentum from its first day of release. The single shot straight to No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Single Ranking, breaking its own record for first-day sales (307,483 copies). It maintained its position at the top of the charts throughout the week, continuing its popularity.
This Japanese single, presented by ENHYPEN after about two years, consists of three tracks expressing desire and instincts towards a beloved person. The title track, 'Shine On Me,' is a J-pop ballad delicately capturing the emotions of midsummer, highlighted by the soft vocals and nuanced expression of the members.
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN's mini album 6 will be released on LP. Pre-orders for mini album 6, 'DESIRE: UNLEASH (Vinyl),' have been ongoing since the 1st and will be released at 1 p.m. on the 29th. The mini album 6, released in June, recorded the second-highest first-week sales (2.14 million copies) among K-pop albums released this year and reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S., gaining global popularity.
