Television personality Hong Jin Kyung's divorce has brought attention to comments made about her ex-husband in the past.
Hong Jin Kyung married her husband, a businessman five years her senior, in 2003 and welcomed their daughter, Rael, in 2010. However, news of their divorce after 22 years of marriage has drawn significant interest.
During the couple talk show "Couples Who Want to Be Hot Again" aired in October 2020, MC Hong Jin Kyung confessed, "In fact, I'm in a slightly dangerous situation with my husband. I received a business card from Lawyer Nam because I have a lot of concerns about my relationship with my husband," raising worries among the other MCs.
However, she continued, "Recently, I went to a relative's funeral, and there was an incredibly expensive-looking luxury wreath there. When I found out who sent it, it was my husband." She added, "Seeing that made my heart melt again. When I called him, he said, 'Still, an elder passed away...'."
At the time, Choi Hwa Jung laughed and asked, "Did that change your mind again?" Hong Jin Kyung replied, "I was going to get some advice; I just put the lawyer's card in the drawer for now."
However, as news of the divorce became public, the mentions of her husband from this broadcast are being highlighted again.

That day, Hong Jin Kyung responded to Jeong Seon Hee's poignant question, "Are you okay now?" by saying, "Rael is doing well, and she's getting along well with her dad. The unfortunate thing is that we have only just become strangers. It's sad that we regained our true friendship only after becoming strangers, but we are doing well."
She further shared, "I first met Rael's dad a few years after 1998. I've only known him for 28 years now, and we lived together. You might wonder why we broke up, but it wasn't just one person's fault. We decided to live differently. After we separated and became strangers, a real friendship emerged, and he was someone I trusted and admired during my dating days. Now, he's a really good brother to me."
Additionally, Hong Jin Kyung noted, "He often comes over, and the in-laws and my grandmother still meet well. I didn't know that my mom and mother-in-law were such cool people. They almost meet like Hollywood stars and have meals together regularly," indicating their continued good relationship even after the divorce.
Moreover, when Jeong Seon Hee asked about the reasons for the divorce, "Was there a moment when you felt it couldn't work anymore?" Hong Jin Kyung replied, "How can you do that without something like that?" while also saying, "But it's not that it was the fault of one person. The fact that XXX is no longer there was the biggest reason. But many people live this way.
