The drama 'The Defects' had its final episode leaked during the VOD release process, and the Tving side issued an official apology.
On the 6th, a Tving official told OSEN, "Due to a meta matching error during the video transmission process for 'The Defects' released on August 5th, episode 8 was temporarily exposed instead of episode 6. We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused to viewers."
'The Defects' is an action thriller based on the webtoon of the same name, depicting the desperate survival and revenge of children who were abandoned by their adoptive parents and barely survived on the brink of death. It is being streamed exclusively on Tving in Korea, and the final episode was uploaded instead of episode 6.
As a result, there were posts pointing out the errors in the live talk where viewers discuss the story, and due to the release of the final episode, the ending was revealed first, leading to a flood of spoiler comments.
Amid this significant incident, Tving emphasized, "We take this matter very seriously and are closely consulting with the broadcaster and production company to discuss detailed countermeasures to prevent similar issues from recurring in the future."
It added, "Using this incident as an opportunity, we will strengthen internal system checks and management systems to do our utmost to prevent recurrence."
Meanwhile, 'The Defects' is set to conclude on the 12th.
