'Idol AI' has completed its lineup that triggers the fandom of Choi Soo-young and Kim Jae-young.
Set to premiere in the second half of 2025, the Genie TV original drama 'Idol AI' (directed by Lee Kwang-young, written by Kim Da-rin, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by ASTORY) is a mystery courtroom romance that unfolds as star lawyer Maeng Se-na (played by Choi Soo-young) takes on the case of her 'ultimate bias,' Do Ra-ik (played by Kim Jae-young), who is accused of murder.
Lee Kwang-young, who showcased delicate and sensuous direction through the drama 'Say It's Love' and others, takes the helm, while the fresh writing talent Kim Da-rin is in charge of the script. Adding to the anticipation is ASTORY, which consistently delivers hit productions such as 'Big Mouth,' 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' and 'Signal.'
Above all, attention is focused on the intriguing encounter between Choi Soo-young and Kim Jae-young, who will alternate between fandom and doubt while pursuing the truth. First, Choi Soo-young passionately portrays the star lawyer 'Maeng Se-na,' who must prove the innocence of her 'ultimate bias' Do Ra-ik. He is a character with hidden scars, known as 'the lawyer for villains' due to taking on criminal cases that are shunned by others. The twist is that he is actually a 10-year fan of the band Gold Boys, known as 'Sun-geum.' To take on the defense of his 'ultimate bias' Do Ra-ik, he hides his fandom and steps in, confronting unexpected truths.
Choi Soo-young, who has established herself as a reliable actor through various works such as 'Second Shot at Love,' 'Nam Nam,' and 'Run On,' is also a member of the legendary group 'Girls' Generation.' There is much anticipation for how she will perform as a lawyer equipped with fandom. Choi Soo-young expressed, 'Maybe because I have been in touch with fans' feelings, I couldn't put down the script when I first received it and read it to the end. It's my first time playing both a lawyer and a fan. The contrasting aspects of the character are interesting. I think I can show a new side of myself, and I am excited. I will do my best to create a good work.'
Kim Jae-young undergoes a drastic transformation as Do Ra-ik, the visual center and vocalist of Gold Boys, who becomes a suspect in a murder case. Since the moment the stage, which he had longed for, no longer brought happiness and the cheers and love from fans felt like a heavy debt, he has lived hiding darkness behind a radiant smile. Amid this, a disaster in the form of a 'murder case' forces him to throw off his mask and become a 'do-ra-i' living without a tomorrow.
Kim Jae-young, who has showcased a diverse charm through dramas such as 'Judge From Hell,' 'Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday,' and 'Someone Like You,' remarked, 'I am honored to be part of 'Idol AI.' The subject matter is so interesting, and it's a drama that encompasses various genres, so I have high expectations. It's a bit burdensome, but I am happy to be able to participate.' He added, 'I have been cast as the band vocalist Do Ra-ik, and since it's a character that has a lot to show, I am very excited.'
Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama 'Idol AI' will premiere in the second half of 2025 on channel ENA and will be exclusively available as free VOD on KT Genie TV.
