"The Mantis: Original Sin" serial killer Go Hyun-jung's shocking outing begins.
On Sept. 5, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "The Mantis: Original Sin" (directed by Byun Young-joo, written by Lee Young-jong, planned by Studio S, produced by Merry Christmas, Mega Monster, Film Production So Bo-im) will air for the first time. "The Mantis: Original Sin" is a high-density crime thriller that occurs more than 20 years after the brutal serial killer "The Mantis" was caught, as copycat crimes happen and a detective who has hated her mother, who is "The Mantis," investigates alongside her.
"The Mantis: Original Sin" is a collaboration between director Byun Young-joo, known for "Fireworks," and writer Lee Young-jong of "Spring of Seoul," featuring two actors, Go Hyun-jung (as Jeong Yi-shin) and Jang Dong-yoon (as Cha Su-yeol), who have captured both acting prowess and public interest, generating reactions of "dream team" even before the debut. Among them, actress Go Hyun-jung, whose name alone evokes explosive expectations, has drawn attention for her drastic transformation.
In this context, on Aug. 6, the first two posters for "The Mantis: Original Sin" were revealed. The poster captures Go Hyun-jung's powerful presence as well as the overall atmosphere she will lead, making it impossible to look away.
In the first poster, Go Hyun-jung stands alone in a dark place without a single beam of light. Despite being a serial killer, she is not wearing a prison uniform. However, her tightly bound hands suggest that she has committed a crime and is under someone's surveillance. Notably, Go Hyun-jung's expression, which appears unrestrained, and the chilling tagline "Murder... it's the best thing I've done in my life," create a stark contrast that sends shivers down the spine. Simultaneously, it incites curiosity about why she had to commit murder and why she had to become a serial killer.
The second poster focuses more intensely on Go Hyun-jung, stealing the gaze. With the green light symbolizing the mantis piercing through the center of the poster, Go Hyun-jung gazes at the camera with a peculiar expression that combines elegance and eeriness. Her aura fills the entire poster with just a single gaze and combined with the shocking tagline "The smell of blood? I like it," it leaves a deep impact on prospective viewers.
Go Hyun-jung plays the role of the serial killer "The Mantis" in "The Mantis: Original Sin." Thus, her presence is crucial in "The Mantis: Original Sin." Through the first revealed images, the poster demonstrates Go Hyun-jung's overwhelming presence, leading to heightened anticipation for the drama.
