'You Quiz on the Block' Professor Lee Gyeo-ho stated that among individuals aged 20 to 49, Korea ranks first in the world for colorectal cancer incidence.
On the 6th, Professor Lee Gyeo-ho, an analytical chemist who investigates food toxins, appeared on the tvN entertainment program 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz').
On this day, Yoo Jae-seok asked, ''I've heard there are many concerns about digestive health among the younger generation?'' Professor Lee Gyeo-ho replied, ''Korea ranks first in colorectal cancer incidence among individuals aged 20 to 49.''
He also pointed out, ''Currently, young people in Korea appear to be fit, but inside they are all empty cans.'' He went on to say that the reasons for the declining digestive health of the younger generation are ''food, lifestyle habits, and the mental environment. These three factors come together, and Korea is the worst in all of them.''
Firstly, regarding food, Professor Lee Gyeo-ho stated, ''Meat has no fault. It's the people consuming it that are the problem. While it's said that eating a lot of meat is beneficial, there is a daily protein requirement. The World Health Organization has set this. The daily protein requirement is 0.8g per 1kg of body weight.''
'He continued, ''However, when it comes to group meals, one might consume 100g of protein. That exceeds the necessary amount by 40g. Because of this excess protein, people tend to overeat. The problem is that 40g will be excreted in the urine. That day, the urine will be cloudier and foamy compared to other days.''
Thus, Professor Lee Gyeo-ho criticized, ''If you eat a little bit every day, there is no problem, but people sit down and eat too much all at once,'' drawing attention to the issue.
