In particular, on this day, Hong Jin Kyung appeared on the YouTube channel of her long-time friend Jeong Seon Hee, where she expressed her stance on the divorce. She met with Jeong Seon Hee before leaving the country and filmed the video, sharing candid thoughts.
Earlier, Hong Jin Kyung married businessman husband, who is 5 years older, in 2003 and welcomed her only daughter in 2010. However, they faced a breakup after 22 years of marriage.
Jeong Seon Hee learned a few months ago that her younger sibling had divorced, and Hong Jin Kyung opened up, saying, "Our daughter Rael is doing well, and she is also getting along well with her dad. The unfortunate part is that we have finally become strangers. It's sad that we have recovered our true friendship only after becoming strangers, but we are doing well."
She continued, "I first met Rael's dad in 1998. For 28 years, I have only known Rael's dad and have been with him. You might wonder why we broke up, but it's not just one person's fault. We decided to live differently." She added, "Only after we broke up and became strangers did a true friendship emerge. It's unfortunate, but he used to be the older brother I trusted and liked when I dated. He is still a very good older brother to me."
In response, Jeong Seon Hee joked, "Does that mean you will announce the news of your reunion next year? There seems to be a pink atmosphere," to which Hong Jin Kyung replied, "In reality, the older brother visits our house often, and our in-laws and grandmother still meet well. I didn't know that my mom and my mother-in-law were this cool. They meet often for meals," indicating that they maintain a good relationship.
Regarding the reason for the divorce, Jeong Seon Hee asked, "Was there a moment when you felt it couldn't go on any longer?" Hong Jin Kyung replied, "How could I do it without such a moment?" and added, "But it's not fundamentally one person's fault. The biggest reason is that XXX no longer exists. But everyone lives like that. You might ask, 'Does that mean everyone divorces?' but this is our personal choice, and we found that part difficult."
Additionally, Hong Jin Kyung shared, "My mother-in-law kept saying, 'Wait until Rael gets a bit older and announces it.' That's why I couldn't say more. I couldn't delay any longer, and I told my mother-in-law about this situation," adding the reason for belatedly announcing the divorce.

She has since engaged in various entertainment activities, and showcased her acting in SBS's 'My Love from the Star.'
