Singer Jo Sung-mo, who made his first grants appearance on "Radio Star," reveals the behind-the-scenes of the advertisement from the time he became everyone's "Jo Mae-sil."
The MBC show "Radio Star," airing today (6th), features a special episode titled "Your brother is coming back" with Kim Jang-hoon, Bobby Kim, Jo Sung-mo, and Son Ho-young making grants appearances.
Jo Sung-mo, who made his grants appearance on "Radio Star" after 18 years, mentions the time he was active as a blue chip in the advertising industry. Having starred in over thirty advertisements, including jeans, school uniforms, telecom companies, and cosmetics, Jo Sung-mo surprises everyone, saying, "Thinking about it now, it doesn't make sense, but I filmed ads for both rival telecom companies in Korea."
When MC Jang Doyoun mentions the legendary commercial that is talked about, Jo Sung-mo smiles calmly and says, "Here it comes." When MC Kim Gura asks, "Didn't you know it would become a big deal back then?" Jo Sung-mo reveals he thought, "Is it okay to shoot it like this?" He notes, "I realized it had become a big deal because of the 'Coca-Cola sales,'" capturing everyone's attention, noting that the plum beverage had surpassed Coca-Cola's sales for the first time.
Jo Sung-mo also shared the moment he witnessed the extraordinary impact of the plum advertisement in theaters. He mentioned that as his advertisement appeared on the big screen, he personally witnessed the audience's genuine reactions reaching their limits. Son Ho-young empathized, saying, "I also remember seeing it in theaters."
Jo Sung-mo also reveals the know-how behind the highlight scene of the advertisement, where he imagines biting into soft-serve ice cream while acting. Bobby Kim provokes laughter by exclaiming, "Do we really have to see this again?" as Jo Sung-mo reenacts the scene, and he impressively shows the acting that created the 'Plum Prince' who generated everyone's 'Jo Mae-sil.'
