The global girl group KATSEYE from HYBE and Geffen Records is challenging for the award at the '2025 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA).'
According to the list of nominees announced by the 'MTV VMA' on the 5th (local time), KATSEYE's title track 'Touch' from their debut album 'SIS (Soft Is Strong)' has been included in the 'institutional sector' of 'PUSH Performance of the Year.'
This is the first time KATSEYE has been nominated for this award. Their rapid rise as the 'next pop icon' in just over a year since their debut continues to attract attention.
MTV awards this honor to the artist with the most impressive performance among the 'PUSH campaign' artists selected each month. KATSEYE was chosen as an 'MTV PUSH' artist last January.
'Touch' is a pop genre with a pleasant upbeat and delicate melody, featuring the dreamy yet soft tones of the six members. The song has gained explosive reactions on short-form platforms with its addictive melody and key choreography, and it is on the verge of surpassing 400 million cumulative streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.
'MTV VMA' is considered one of the top four major music awards in the United States, along with the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. This year's ceremony will be held on Sept. 7 at the UBS Arena in New York.
Meanwhile, KATSEYE recently delivered a powerful performance at the world's largest music festival, Lollapalooza Chicago, drawing explosive reactions from the audience and receiving praise from major foreign press outlets. Additionally, their second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' ranked 4th on the Billboard 200 (July 12 issue), and the tracks 'Gabriela' and 'Gnarly' entered the main single chart, the Hot 100, solidifying their status in the global market.
