Hong Jin Kyung revealed the insights behind her divorce.
On June 6, the YouTube channel 'Jeong Seon Hee's House' published a video titled "Finally, the story that only Hong Jin Kyung, Jeong Seon Hee's 30-year close friend, can tell."
On that day, Hong Jin Kyung said, "Are you okay now?" in response to Jeong Seon Hee's poignant question, "Rael is doing well, and I am also getting along with Rael's dad. The unfortunate thing is that we have finally become strangers. It's sad that we have recovered our true friendship, but I am doing well."
Jeong Seon Hee said, "Actually, I knew. A few months ago, I heard that you had divorced, but you didn't tell anyone. I began to sweat profusely on my own. But today, when you said, 'You can talk comfortably with me'..."
Then, Hong Jin Kyung reflected, "I was wondering when I should talk about this. Is it okay for it to flow like this without saying anything? It feels like I am deceiving people too much. My heart has always been heavy, and I didn't know the right timing or how to talk about it." She added, "If I had to talk about this, I thought I should do it in front of Seon Hee. She was always there when I was dating Rael's dad. She is someone who knows our entire story."
He said, "I first met Rael's dad several years ago, in 1998. I've known Rael's dad for 28 years, and we have been together. You might be wondering why we broke up, but we didn't part ways due to any one person's fault. We decided to live differently. After we broke up and became strangers, true friendship was born, and he is still the brother I trusted and followed during my previous relationships. He's now such a good older brother to me."
Hearing this, Jeong Seon Hee joked, "So are you saying you'll announce news of a reunion next year? There seems to be a romantic sentiment." Hong Jin Kyung responded, "He frequently visits my house, and my mother-in-law and grandmother still meet well. I didn't know my mom and mother-in-law were such cool people. They often dine together."
When Jeong Seon Hee inquired about the reasons for the divorce, asking, "Was there a moment when you felt you couldn't continue anymore?" Hong Jin Kyung replied, "How could there be that without anything?" but added, "Decisively, it's not just one person's fault. The biggest reason was that XXX was no longer there. But everyone lives like that. You might think that just because of this, everyone is getting a divorce, but this was our personal choice, and that part was difficult for us."
She continued, "My mother-in-law kept saying, 'Wait until Rael grows a little more and can announce it.' So I couldn't say much more. In fact, a lot of reporters knew, and there were many discussions about wanting to write articles through the agency, but the agency asked us to wait. I could no longer delay it, and I informed my mother-in-law about this situation."
Meanwhile, Hong Jin Kyung married her husband, a businessman five years older, in 2003, and welcomed their daughter Rael in 2010. However, the news of their divorce after 22 years of marriage attracted attention.
