Actor Lee Byung-hun (54) has been selected as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
On the 5th, the Toronto International Film Festival announced four winners of the 'TIFF Tribute Awards' on its website. The 'TIFF Tribute Awards' are given to individuals who have contributed to the development of cinema.
Lee Byung-hun's name was listed alongside director Guillermo del Toro, director Hikari, and actress Jodie Foster.
The film festival stated, 'This year's award winners are individuals who have left a significant mark on the film industry,' noting, 'We are pleased to honor Lee Byung-hun's overwhelming talent, Guillermo del Toro's vision and imagination, Hikari's emotional storytelling, and Jodie Foster's unparalleled career.'
Regarding Lee Byung-hun, it was said, 'He is a global star who has achieved great success in both Korea and Hollywood through films and series.'
The 50th Toronto International Film Festival will be held from September 4-14 in Toronto, Canada. The 'TIFF Tribute Awards' ceremony will take place on the 7th of next month.
Lee Byung-hun stars in Park Chan-wook's new film 'No Other Choice,' which has been invited as a North American gala premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. This is Park's first work in three years since 'Decision to Leave' in 2022, and it is based on the novel 'The Ax' by American author Donald Westlake.
