Actor Kang Ji-seob, who appeared on "O Eun-young Stay," confessed for the first time on air about his feelings related to the controversy surrounding religious followers, revealing the pain he had endured.
In the seventh episode of the MBN 30th anniversary national consolation project "O Eun-young Stay," which aired on 4th, actor Kang Ji-seob and Lee Teuk's sister, actress Park In-young, along with a participant from the 7th season, appeared and courageously shared their hidden pain and wounds, engaging in heartfelt stories.
First, 6th season participant and athlete "Blink" struggled with severe forgetfulness, causing him to forget not only his necessary competition shoes but also his uniform number, and he was unable to keep the most crucial promise of time in group living, leading to discomfort in daily life and causing his teammates to receive punishment. "Blink" was ultimately diagnosed with adult ADHD and continued training while undergoing treatment, and, filled with dreams of becoming a national representative after winning first place in a national competition, his plans were thwarted when ADHD medications led to doping violations that resulted in disqualification. "Blink" revealed that he spent hard times drinking every day and, after taking sleep medication for four days, unknowingly wrote a will.
Dr. O Eun-young noted, "Knowing oneself accurately is the most important thing," encouraging Blink that the results of his hard work while taking medication were not from the medication but from his own efforts. Dr. O Eun-young empowered Blink, saying, "Inform those around you and start exercising again," and Blink's determination to quit drinking and restart exercising fostered warmth.
The 4th season participants of "Stay" headed to Chungjeongsa, a hidden urban temple in Namsan, to confess their long-held pain. Notably, actor Kang Ji-seob surprised everyone after actress Park In-young, who is Lee Teuk's sister. Park In-young began, "This story might upset my mom and younger sibling..." and added, "After having a miscarriage, I really hated meeting people. Some would say, 'You got married and had a miscarriage, didn't you?'" revealing the suffering she had not been able to express until now.
Actor Kang Ji-seob introduced himself by saying, "I thought I was on the right path, but it turned out to be the wrong path and, as a result, I was branded with the scarlet letter of ignorance," confessing his past involved in a certain controversy surrounding religious followers. Kang Ji-seob stated, "I wanted to find a place of solace," but shared that while working in the entertainment industry, he didn't want to fall into bad habits like relationships or drinking, yet women were victimized physically, and men, financially, shocking the audience. Particularly, through the preview for the next episode of "O Eun-young Stay," he expressed intense emotions, saying, "I was scammed out of all my drama appearance fees," and reflected, "I wondered if I shouldn't be in this world. I feel like throwing up."
Finally, the participant labeled "Zero" shared a heartbreaking story of being adopted at the age of two and later being abandoned and sent to an orphanage. "Zero" recounted being bullied at school for being an orphan and suffering severe violence, revealing the mental and physical abuse received from the orphanage director mother, stunning everyone. "Zero" mentioned hearing abusive words like being called a mental retard, autistic, and troublemaker, and described the harsh treatment endured such as being kicked in the abdomen, being forced to lay naked in positions, and threats with knives, leaving the room in heavy silence. Nevertheless, "Zero" expressed, "The director mother isn't even my real mother, yet she raised dozens of us. I should be grateful just for being fed and cared for, but I wonder if speaking out on TV about this is an act of ingratitude, feeling guilty, honestly. I feel like I'm becoming garbage," lowering his head.
After hearing Zero's heartbreaking confession, Dr. O Eun-young said, "Regardless of how someone treated you, whether you were adopted or abandoned, you were precious and valuable from the moment you were born," and embraced Zero warmly, adding, "My heart hurts so much. I really want to hug you." Zero seemed to realize he was deserving of love and broke down in tears, pouring out suppressed emotions. The heartfelt comfort from Dr. O Eun-young and the participants left a profound impact and a moving sense of hope for a new beginning.
